With its vast universe and emphasis on space exploration, building your own custom spaceship is one of the most exciting parts of Starfield. From choosing the right parts to outfitting the interior, you’ll want your starship to match your playstyle. Follow this step-by-step guide on How to Customize Your Ship in Bethesda’s Starfield.
How to Customize Your Ship in Bethesda’s Starfield
Get to Know the Starfield Ship Customization System
To customize your ships in Starfield, you need to talk to a ship technician. Your ships are heavily customizable. The ship technician lets you buy and sell different ship parts, as well as modifications to your existing components.
You don’t need to fly very far to find them since they are available on any of the game’s spaceports. Given that the game reportedly has more than 1,000 planets, this is something players will be thankful for. However, spaceports may not be limited to planets alone as you can also visit moons and space stations.
The technicians allow you to:
- Change ship colors
- Swap parts like engines and cannons
- Expand cargo and crew capacity
- Upgrade jump range
- Improve speed and handling
Through the customization menu, you’ll see key ship stats like:
- Cargo – Storage capacity
- Crew – Number of companions onboard
- Shield – Shield strength
- Engine – Speed and acceleration
