Beverly Hills Cop 4 has been in the works on Netflix, and the streamer has dropped the first look at Eddie Murphy’s return as Axel Foley. Officially titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, it will be the first Beverly Hills Cop film in 29 years and will see Murphy reunite with some of the franchise’s original stars. So, are fans ready for his return? Here’s everything we know so far about the much-awaited film.
The First Look for Beverly Hills Cop 4
The first look for Beverly Hills Cop 4 sees Eddie Murphy in the titular role of Axel Foley, wearing his iconic Detroit Lions jacket.
In the photo, he seems to be trapped in the middle of a vehicular accident as he is surrounded by a lot of people with their mobile phones out, aiming at him. Two cops are in front of him as he puts his hands in the air and surrenders himself.

As expected, the post is quickly filled with comments from longtime fans waiting to see this fourth movie, along with Murphy’s return as Foley.
“I’ve missed this guy so much, man. I used to laugh so hard back in the 80s and 90s at his stand-up,” one fan says in his comment.
“Does Eddie Murphy age? The man still looks great,” another fan claims. Considering this franchise is one of the best comedy films of the 1980s to the 1990s, many hope this new film will be as good.
Who are the cast members of Beverly Hills Cop 4?
Of course, Eddie Murphy returns as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop 4 and will be the front and center of the film.
As he’s again set to patrol, he will be working with a couple of new partners, played by Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Taylour Paige. The three’s roles are yet to be announced. Aside from the new faces, fans will once again see the franchise’s original cast members: Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot.

The three will reprise their roles as Billy Rosewood, John Taggart, Jeffrey Friedman, and Serge.
What is Beverly Hills Cop 4 about?
According to Empire, Beverly Hills Cop 4 will introduce Taylour Paige as the daughter of Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley. She’s a criminal defense attorney who will get her father’s help in a case based in California. In this new place, he’s about to create issues with the Los Angeles Police Department’s special-unit officer, played by Kevin Bacon. He’s then set to team up with a new partner, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Talking about the film, the returning franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer said Murphy and Goron-Levitt are a “strong comedic duo.”
“He gets stuck with Axel, and they are hysterical together,” he said. “Joseph is such a great straight man for Eddie.”

He then teased that fans will again see Murphy’s “prime performance.” “Anytime he walks on set, you never know what you’re going to get. And it’s always pretty brilliant,” he teased.
Netflix added that it took a while before Beverly Hills Cop 4 got off the ground after multiple iterations. At one point, it even tried to show Murphy doing a cameo in a TV series where Foley’s son would star instead.
“The pilot was really good. It tested where they have these knobs [that you] turn if you like it,” Murphy explained. “And whenever I came on the screen, Axel Foley would come on the screen; they turned it so they literally broke the knobs on the thing. It was like, ‘Damn, they breaking knobs?’”
Beverly Hills Cops 4 is directed by Mark Molloy with a screenplay by Will Beall. It’s release date is yet to be announced.
