BIGHIT Music has released the details regarding BTS members RM, V, Jungkook, and Jimin’s upcoming enlistment. The two maknae, Jimin and Jungkook are going to enlist as companion soldiers while RM and V will enlist individually. BTS Jungkook and Jimin will continue their companionship in the military
BIGHIT Music has announced that the maknae line of BTS will enlist in December. They have shared that the group’s leader, Kim Namjoon, and honey-voiced visual Kim Taehyung will enlist individually. While the youngest member Jeon Jungkook will enlist with the beloved singer Park Jimin.
Jimin and Jungkook who filmed a whole travel documentary together and went to Japan together are also going to be enlisting together

They have also asked the fans to refrain from gathering at the enlistment ceremony as it is only open for close family and military personnel. Furthermore, alerting fans to be aware of any tour packages or trip plans under individual members’ names as they pose a fraudulent threat.
Although the ARMYs are sad about the BTS enlistment as they will have to say a temporary farewell to the members, they also expressed pride that Taehyung is going to enlist as a special force officer. On the other hand, the fans are overcome with endearment after learning that Jimin and Jungkook will enlist together as companion soldiers.

What is companion soldiers?
“dongbanipdae” or companion soldiers is a system of buddy enlistment where two people decide to go through the military together. With this system close friends and/or relatives can enlist at the same time. By doing so they will receive training with each other and be deployed to the same unit.

It is a system that was introduced in 2003 by the Military Manpower Administration and the Army to improve the military’s combat power. It also aims to encourage youth to enlist, assist active-duty soldiers in adapting to military life, and encourage strong companionship among the soldiers.
Therefore, Jungkook and Jimin are going to train and perform their military duties together throughout the complete enlistment. Apart from applying to this system, the two singers were also able to choose the 5th division of the military, where Kim Seokjin is currently completing his mandatory military service.

It is the only command that belongs to the Republic of Korea Armed Forces that is under the direct command system of the President.
