Poppy Playtime is a survival horror game developed and published by the indie team Mob Entertainment. The game is released through chapters that take players deeper into the eerie halls of the Playtime Co. Toy Factory. Since its release, it has only been available on the PC via Steam and mobile phones. But given its massive success, you should be able to play Poppy Playtime on the Sony PlayStation 4, right?
What is Poppy Playtime all about?
Before we get into it, what exactly is Poppy Playtime all about? To give you a rundown, you take on the role of an ex-employee of a closed-down Toy Factory. Your character finds themselves back at the toy factory after receiving a mysterious letter that appears to come from inside the Playtime Co. Toy Factory. Beware, as there may be spoilers ahead! Read at your own risk if you haven’t played Poppy Playtime yet.
- At first, the reason why Playtime Co. Toy Factory closed down wasn’t disclosed. However, things start becoming clear when players finally arrive at the mysterious factory. In the first chapter of Poppy Playtime, players have to survive a sinister being in the likeness of Huggy Wuggy, the factory’s mascot, before it closed down for good
- The first chapter focuses on the player rescuing Poppy from the Toy Factory. Although the player manages to outrun and outlast Huggy Wuggy and find Poppy, the story doesn’t end there
- In the second chapter, the main villain is another famous toy named Mommy Long Legs. This time, players better understand what exactly happened in the Toy Factory before it shut down. At this point, our main character doesn’t seem as innocent as they seem. What part did they play in the sinister events inside the Toy Factory?
Is the game available on the Sony PlayStation 4?
- Poppy Playtime’s success was not at all expected. Many YouTubers uploaded videos of their playthroughs; these YouTubers included top content creators like Markiplier. Because of this, Mob Entertainment decided to release Poppy Playtime’s second chapter
- As expected, the second chapter garnered immediate success. The first and second chapters became available on mobile phones, reaching more players interested in exploring Playtime Co. Toy Factory.
If you play on consoles like the Sony PlayStation 4, the bad news is Mob Entertainment doesn’t have plans to release Poppy Playtime on these platforms. Nevertheless, it’s still early to tell whether this decision is permanent. Mob Entertainment may focus first on bringing out stable versions of their games on PC and mobile phones.
Mob Entertainment can also release Poppy Playtime on the Sony PlayStation 4 once all chapters are done. From there, they will release Poppy Playtime as a full game containing all the chapters. With the third chapter coming soon, we’re likely closer to uncovering and resolving all the secrets in Playtime Co. Toy Factory.
