After receiving favourable feedback on Steam last September when the game released on Steam, Playful might be bringing their celebrated 3D Platformer Super Lucky’s Tale to Switch this year.
The hint comes from current Concept Artist Taylor Smith’s LinkedIn profile, where she mentions working on the “environment assets for the upcoming Nintendo Switch port” of Super Lucky’s Tale.
She worked on the port as a contract-based 3D Artist last February and March. Alongside, she “modelled, sculpted and textured key prop assets for Super Lucky’s Tale: Guardian Trials”, organised “deadlines and generated consistent feedback loop with Art Director during creation process”, and built “stylised, procedural environment materials in Substance Designer for use across prop asset”. Currently, she’s the full-time Concept Artist, working on VR-friendly art direction, lighting, props and 3D modellings for the game.
Another hint comes from former contract-based 3D Artist Jesse Sosa’s LinkedIn Profile, who’s currently the Outsource Manager at Gearbox Software. In his profile, he mentions having shipped Super Lucky’s Tale for PC, Xbox One and Switch. However, there’s no official mention of a Switch port as of now.
This could mean a Switch port is possibly in the making. We’ve contacted Playful to comment on the situation and as always, we’ll update the article when and if we receive a response.
There are many games that weren’t favoured by critics but thoroughly loved by the community. Super Lucky’s Tale is one of them. Although the game has a Metacritic rating of 64% for Xbox One, the title received many appreciation and positive reviews when it released on Steam last September.
Although packed with sluggish controls and quirky gameplay, players loved the cute 3D Platformer, for its loveable characters, the environment and the aesthetic presentation.
