Update: Remedy Entertainment reached out to Spiel Times to share the following statement on Phil Spencer’s remarks.
“The information about Control coming to Xbox Game Pass as reported on a recent Mixer stream is incorrect. We have no news or announcements regarding Xbox Game Pass at this time.”
Microsoft shared the following statement:
“We’re aware that Control was mentioned as coming to the Xbox Game Pass library and can confirm this was in error. While we are always updating the library and looking for new ways to provide our members with value and choice in their games, we do not have plans to bring Control to the library at this time.”
We’ll update this story further with any additional information. The original article is as follows:
Control didn’t do pretty well as far as sales are concerned, although it did receive pretty good responses from players and critics. While Remedy revealed that although the game wasn’t chart-topping, it is still selling steadily, Microsoft is all set to boost the player count for the game.
Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, today revealed in a Mixer stream (around the 44 minute mark) that Control is coming to Xbox Game Pass. He said, “I thought Control was really good. It didn’t reach enough people, so I’m glad to see that it’s coming to Game Pass so hopefully more people will play it.”
Control’s inclusion to the Xbox Game Pass will bring a number of players to the game. While it might not boost sales, it might pave the way for more purchases of the paid in-game content Remedy has in plans for Control.
