On March 22, Valve officially stated the existence of the game in its final stages. The PGL Twitter announcement has backed up its early release for this year. The following tweet from Valve’s Counter-Strike account stated that the BLAST Paris is the final CS: GO, Major. They further specified that their next stop is Counter Strike 2 Major, to promote their upgraded title for the Esports world.
The official organizer for the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major will be none other than PGL Esports. Their recent tweet has racked up a lot of traction from Major CS: GO teams that are waiting for the transition upon the game’s release. It should be interesting to see how the audience reacts to them playing in the first CS 2 global tournament.
Now, there is a lot of responsibility on PGL Esports to make it successful. It is safe to say that they are highly capable as organizers hoisting some of the Major CS: GO tournaments. It includes the ongoing BLAST Paris Major 2023, PGL Major Stockholm 2021, PGL Major Krakow 2017, and more.
The venue, Schedule, and more
As announced by PGL the Counter-Strike 2 Major will commence from March 17 to March 31, 2024. It will feature a gigantic prize pool of $1.25 Million and a trophy to be given to the winners. For the venue, it will take place at the Royal Arena which is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Players will be able to buy tickets to watch it live on the venue itself. For others, they can catch this epic Major on PLG Esports Twitch or Youtube channel. There will be additional sources to watch it, and more information on that might be announced later.
The CEO of PGL, Silviu Stroie regarded it as a monumental event and further commented: “One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn’t be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world’s best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game’s most prestigious title. Our ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is to break the game’s all-time viewership records.”
The CS 2 Major will be early on in the year which will set the community’s mood for many more tournaments down the line. The title has enjoyed a massive fan following which will possibly make this one of the major Esports events.
