With the conclusion of E3 2018, journalists, video game bloggers and reporters are finally at rest. The rush required to keep up with the conference’s pace is indescribable. And now, it’s time for us to go slow and steady on things once again.
One of the biggest reveals at E3 this year, was Cyberpunk 2077. While CD Projekt Red showed just an announcement trailer on the big screen, attendees were privileged with a 50-min gameplay footage behind closed doors.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a completely single-player, first-person experience. Fans are debating over an inclusion of the third-person mode as well. But, let’s talk about the multiplayer here.
Although Cyberpunk 2077 is a single-player title, the passionate team at CDPR haven’t limited themselves to just that. Of many major game journalism websites attending E3, Eurogamer inquired about its multiplayer.
CDPR Quest Designer Patrick Mills in an interview with Eurogamer’s Wesley Yin-Poole mentioned about multiplayer. Patrick said, “We have multiplayer in R&D, but the game we’re shipping to you, the game you’re going to buy is the single-player experience. That’s really what we’re concentrating on now, the single-player RPG experience. That’s what we want to nail down before we start looking at any of these other things.”
He further added that the R&D is related to Cyberpunk 2077 as well as just generally at the studio.
Now we aren’t sure if they’ll be launching the multiplayer mode after the base game releases. “Maybe, no promises. Nothing at launch. At launch, we’re concentrating on the single-player game. That’s what we want to give you”, added Patrick.
Whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 gets a multiplayer mode, the game should be more than sufficient with its sole single-player experience. CDPR has not mentioned a release date yet. In fact, it’s still for us to guess if the game’s coming this year or the next.
Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive for PC, PS4 and Xbox One when it releases.

Or they could just not add multiplayer, that would be great.
Sure.
