Big video games quickly become a source of inspiration for other creatives. Evolution is always dictated by the creativity of others that drives us to improve ourselves. Kojima knows this very well and often his works, Metal Gear in the first place, were the spark that the imagination of other developers has access to. Now, it seems to have happened again, but in a rather strange way. A Brazilian advertisement for a perfume seems to have taken inspiration from a Death Stranding trailer is making one of its own scenes.
The comparison was made by MP1st, as you can see in the video below. The perfume is called The Blend and is produced by the Brazilian cosmetic company oBoticário. The offending sequence showcases an enormous humanoid creature formed of a dark substance to which various filaments are tied, repeatedly seen in the trailers of Death Stranding. This specific scene comes from the movie shown at The Game Awards 2017.
The similarity between the two sequences is undeniable. For now, it is not clear if there is actually any connection between the perfume and Death Stranding, but it seems unlikely. The simplest answer is that the filmmakers wanted to quote (or even plagiarize) Kojima’s work.
The full advertising of The Blend is much longer, in any case, and the one shown above is just one scene: you can see the movie of the full version at this address, if you are curious.
We remind you that Death Stranding will be released on November 8, 2019, on PlayStation 4. Currently, there are no confirmations for the release of the game on other platforms.
