Best Class ranked for beginners in Diablo 4

As of writing, Diablo 4 has five classes to choose from. We believe every class in the game is beginner-friendly, but we feel some classes are better than others. We do not discourage players who prefer playing other classes, as it is your choice.

This guide is based on our experience with the game and how we rank these classes according to Diablo 4’s current meta.

All Classes in Diablo 4 Ranked: Pros and Cons

#1 Barbarian

Barbarians

  • Summary:  The Barbarian possesses unmatched strength and is a master at using various weapons in the conflict. In our opinion, they are the best class to start with for beginners as they are more forgiving than the rest.
    • Not only do they do decent damage, but they are also hard to take down, thanks to their health stats.
    • Lastly, they scream menacing battle cries and deliver earth-shattering smashes to throw advancing hordes to the ground, giving you a feeling of being a Barb yourself!
  • Pros: Can take lots of beating, wield multiple weapons, mobile
  • Cons: Short-ranged attacks

#2 Sorcerer

Sorcerer class

  • Summary: The Sorcerer manipulates nature into whatever shape is required to achieve victory, such as unleashing lightning bolts, impaling her enemies on ice thorns, and pouring down blazing meteors.
    • They are the opposite of Barbarians as they have great damage but can be taken down easily due to their low health. Although, if you know how to maintain your distance and feel confident, Sorcerers have enough damage to take down any enemy in a few seconds.
    • All of these reasons make her rank 2 on our best classes list to pick for beginners in Diablo 4.
  • Pros: High DMG, long-ranged attacks
  • Cons: Low Health stats

#3 Rogue

Rogue, Diablo 4

  • Summary: The Rogue is a flexible, nimble warrior who prefers close-quarters or ranged combat. Undoubtedly, they are one of the most fun classes to play in Diablo 4. Not only do they look cool, but they also deal significant damage.
    • The Rogue’s playstyle requires combos that can provide a fun user experience. This class has infused weapons that can defeat any adversary.
    • She can unleash devastating combination strikes and add lethal poisons and dark magic to her armory, making her a force to be reckoned with.
  • Pros: Flexible playstyle (both ranged and melee), mobile, high Crit DMG
  • Cons: Complex to play due to combo-based playstyle

#4 Necromancer

Necromancer, Diablo 4

  • Summary: The crafty summoners known as Necromancers call out furious armies of the undead. Players might be a bit shocked that we ranked Necromancers at 4 and not among the top 3, and it’s just because of how reasonably balanced these classes are.
    • We believe Necromancers are as fun and good to play as Rogue. Their Essence flows into three powerful bastions of Bone, Blood, or Shadow and can be used as crowd control for the enemies.
  • Pros: Flexible playstyle (melee and ranged attacks), crowd control
  • Cons: Less raw damage

#5 Druids

Druids

  • Summary: The Druid is a ferocious shapeshifter that fights with wild animals by effortlessly changing into a huge bear or a nasty werewolf. We are not a huge fan of Druids, not because they are not good, but because other classes are better now.
  • Pros: Tanky (not as much as Barbarians), excels at crowd control
  • Cons: Requires a proper build set-up

Note: These ranks are based on solo play and might differ if you are playing in a party with your friends.
