Commander O’Neil is a boss in Caelid’s Swamp of Aeonia. You can continue Milicent’s journey after eliminating him and will receive the Commander’s Standard.

Commander O’Neil drops it after he gets defeated. He may be found in Aeonia Swamp, in eastern Caelid, in a clearing.

COMMANDER O’NElL – HOW TO BEAT

IMPORTANT NOTE:

• • This boss is slow and is weak to ranged strikes. So strategy? Hit and Run! Throughout the battle, the boss room remains open. You can heal up by running out and in the room again to beat the boss.

    

    To be honest you don’t need to do this because O’Neil is pretty slow.

  • Before fighting the boss, make sure to get rid of his troops.

    

    Take as much time as you need to run around the arena and safely defeat the soldiers. Run around the arena while casting spells at O’Neil once the soldiers are killed. He will occasionally rush forward, so keep a safe gap between you and him.

• During this fight, you should ride Torrent. O’Neil will pause at the start of the encounter to recite a long ritual in order to bring multiple ghost warriors to his aid. Charge up to him and you know the rest.
• When O’Neil completes casting and moves his weapon again, you must flee and engage with his minions.

  

• Wait till he finishes his attack chain before charging in for a hit. O’Neil will create a rot AoE after a brief pause. When the boss kneels down, it’s time to run. This attack will not only deal a lot of damage, but it will also kick you off of Torrent, making you vulnerable to further blows. You may simply rush towards O’Neil and wait for him to try to attack you with his spear.
