Elden Ring: Fia’s Champion – How to Defeat

Fia’s Champion is an optional Greater Enemy Boss which drops a sorcery item and is part of Fia’s Questline. This guide will tell you how to defeat Fia’s Champion in Elden Ring and includes its location, weaknesses, and rewards.

Boss Location

Fia’s Champion is located in the Deeproot Depths. This section will serve as a guide on how to locate Fia’s Champion in Deeproot Depths from Nokron Eternal city. This is the most probable scenario if Fia’s Questline is in progress.

  • In Nokron Eternal City, go to Ancestral Woods Site of Grace. From Ancestral Woods Site of Grace, move to the Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace.

Tip: Going to Nokron Eternal City will require you to defeat Starscourge Radahn, a Great Rune Bearer, in Redmane Castle, Caelid.

  • Once in the Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace, jump off a few ledges, look for the 2 Valiant Gargoyles, and defeat them. Afterward, access to the Great Water Basin Site of Grace will be granted.
  • Next, go to the Coffin Waygate, and it will transport you to the Deeproot Depths.

  • Once teleported, activate all the Sites of Grace and Deeproot Depths Map along the way. The last Site of Grace before fighting Fia’s Champion is Across the Roots Site of Grace.

Boss Reward

Fia’s Champion will drop Fia’s Mist and 40,000 Runes. Aside from this, surviving the invasion of Fia’s Champion will let you advance to the last part of Fia’s Questline.

Boss Attack Sets

Fia’s Champion Boss fight is a series of 3 invasions and a total of 5 bosses.

  • The first wave will be Fia’s Champion, a hostile random NPC. They are normally short-range or melee NPCs.
  • The second wave is Sorcerer Rogier who is equipped with a Rapier and Glintblade Phalanx.
  • For the third wave, there will be 3 at the same time. These are Lionel the Lionhearted and 2 Fia’s Champions (random NPCs).

First Wave

  • Charge Attacks – These are random hostile NPCs so there’s no telling which one you will fight. Although, they all charge and lunge at you head-on.
  • Magic Attacks – Depending on which NPC you will get, they will have their own set of magic attacks but nothing special like other bosses.
  • Evasiveness – Fia’s Champions try to dodge or get away from magic attacks.
These are sample NPCs that you might face during the first wave.

Second Wave

  • Charge Attacks – Like all the hostile NPCs, Sorcerer Rogier charges and lunges at you with melee attacks.
  • Magic Attacks – Sorcerer Rogier has 3 Sorceries: Magic Downpour, Glintstone Shard, and Scholar’s Armament.
    • Magic Downpour  – Overhead projectiles which can be used while moving.
    • Glintstone Shard – Magic projectiles cast from the user’s weapon.
    • Scholar’s Armament – Imbues a right-hand weapon with magic.

Third Wave

  • Charge Attacks  – Since you will be fighting 3 at the same time, all 3 will run straight at you swinging their weapons for the kill.
  • Lionel the Lionhearted Haunting Skull – Lionel casts homing skull projectiles although this is still evadable with the right timing.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Fia’s Champions are weak to Holy Attacks and backstabs. These are hostile NPCs with a limited set of attacks, move just like the players, and some have lower health. However, during the 3rd wave, some NPCs can cast spells that lock you down which can combo with Lionel’s Skull Projectile and fast attacks.

Tips to Defeat Fia’s Champions

General

  • Holy Attacks – use holy attacks and capitalize on their weakness.
  • Backstab – Try rolling forward when dodging an attack or while the NPC is casting its spell for maximum damage.
  • Recommended Level – The recommended minimum level is 50.

First and Second Wave

  • Identify the Weapon – NPC weapons can also be associated with player weapons. If you are familiar with the NPC, you will most likely have an idea of its move sets especially their magic attack. Otherwise, stand back and watch how it moves. These NPCs usually have 1 to 3 attack patterns aside from the constant rolling and lunging.
  • Just like PVP but with Spirit Ashes – This is a one-on-one battle although you can use Spirit Ashes to your advantage.
  • Crowd Control – Use your crowd control attacks, especially on Sorcerer Rogier.
  • Cast Times – Take advantage when Fia’s Champion and Sorcerer Rogier are casting their spells. Counterattack!

Third Wave

  • Watch your Back – Do not get cornered since it will be 3v1. Always watch the arena space and move in circles.
  • Spirit Ashes – Use spirit ashes to distract 1 or 2 of them. After that, it might be a 1v1 or 1v2 which relieves a lot of pressure from the fight.
  • Funnel – Run and fight whoever chases you first. Normally, hostile NPCs will.
  • Spell Casters First– Kill spell casters first since they might lock you down with their Sorcery.
  • Lionel Last – Lionel has larger health than most of the hostile NPCs. Killing him last will be ideal.
