Malenia, Miquella’s Blade is a boss in Elden Ring and Miquella’s twin sister. Malenia is regarded as the Empyrean’s most powerful.
The Blade of Miquella has a few flaws and openings for you to take advantage of. The Haligtree, where she dwells, is also one of the game’s final optional sections.

You won’t be able to reach it until near the end of your quest, at which point you should have significantly leveled up both yourself and your weapon.

PREPARATION BEFORE THE BATTLE
- You can only meet her once you’ve opened the gates to the Forbidden Lands and activated the Grand Lift of Rold to reach the Consecrated Snowfields.
- Malenia guards Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, one of Elden Ring’s final legacy dungeons.
- Before taking on Malenia, make sure you’re at least level 120. Grind in the dungeon.
- Make sure you’re using a high-level weapon in battle, preferably level 22 or above with bleed effect is an excellent choice.
- A powerful Spirit Summon is also required, which can be obtained from a variety of sources.
- Mimic Tear is still a popular choice, even after the nerf, because it distracts Malenia and allows you to attack.
- If you want your summon to fight for you, Black Knife Tiche, one of the Legendary Spirit Ashes, is a perfect choice.
- We recommend saving your summon for the second half.
- For Spell Casters, Stars of Ruins, Comet Azur, or Ranni’s Dark Moon are fantastic options.
- For Melee Users, Blood Tax, and Waterfowl Dance, are good picks.
- No need for shields.
MALENIA BOSS – MOVESET – COUNTER
HOW TO BEAT MALENIA
- IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Malenia’s blade is longer than others, having a range comparable to that of the Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest.
- Scarlet Aeonia – Malenia’s initial move in phase two may be easily avoided by sprinting towards her and turning right as soon as you’re almost exactly underneath her.
PHASE 1
Malenia is vulnerable to Hemorrhage during this phase. Malenia’s HP is depleted significantly by blood loss, thus it’s a good complement to your normal strikes.
- Try hitting Malenia no more than two or three times. But if you’re confident that you can escape after your combo, then you can do some freestyle.
- For a brief instant, Malenia’s hand lights up before she raises her blade, leaps, and slashes it down. During that short window before and after the attack, she is still and defenseless. It’s easy to get caught in the move if you strike before it stops, it’s recommended to attack her after it ends.
- Waterfowl Dance is her most lethal technique, Malenia leaps into the air for a brief while before collapsing to the ground and unleashing a hail of sword cuts. She then leaps ahead and creates two more whirlwinds before stopping and creating two more whirlwinds.
- Attempting to attack during this maneuver is never a good idea. Simply concentrate on sprinting and evading.
PHASE 2
When Malenia’s HP is depleted, a cinematic appears in which she turns into the Goddess of Rot, a stronger, quicker form with a distinct set of attacks.
Malenia now uses area-of-effect attacks to inflict Scarlet Rot. This is an excellent opportunity to put your Spirit Ashes to use.
- The scarlet bloom of Malenia is by far the most dangerous attack.
- She’ll fly into the air and crash down in a rot explosion, generating a gigantic rot blossom that causes damage and spreads Scarlet Rot across a larger area.
- You have a few seconds to avoid it, so the best plan is to flee as soon as Malenia rises and begins to glow.
- If you have a lot of HP and can withstand the damage, it’s a good idea to run into the bloom as soon as it opens and start attacking Malenia, because she’ll stay motionless while the bloom is in the field.
- If you hurry in, you’ll almost likely acquire Scarlet Rot, so be sure you’re ready to deal with it. Malenia will occasionally stomp her foot, generating a plume of rot.
During this phase, Malenia has fewer openings and usually only stays motionless long enough to attack after performing a rot move. You can use your summons now.
