White-Faced Varre is Elden Rings’ first NPC and your first taste of mockery as he calls you “maidenless”. Anyhow, as much as we want to kill him immediately, White-Faced Varre’s questline is well worth it due to special optional area access and a chance for a Great Rune.
Here are the steps to complete White-Faced Varre’s, Quest Line.
Step # 1 Insults and Badgering
- Talk to NPC White-Faced Varre immediately after the First Step Site of Grace.
- Suck up the insults and the badgers and take note of this important line which indicates that you need to defeat Godrick the Grafted and acquire the Great Rune.
“To castle Stormveil, over on the cliff.
The home of the Decrepit demigod. Godrick the Grafted.”
- Godrick is located at the end of Stormveil Castle, a Legacy Dungeon. Once defeated, return to Varre and he will request you to proceed to the Chamber of Two Fingers inside the Round Table Hold.
Step # 2 The Rose Church
- After defeating Godrick the Grafted and talking to Enia in the Round Table Hold, proceed to the Rose Church
- White-Faced Varre will relocate from the First Step Site of Grace to Rose Church.
- Talk to Varre in the Rose Church, and he will provide you with Festering Bloody Finger.
Step # 3 The Invasion (An Introduction to PVP)
- You will need to set your game to Online and use Festering Bloody Finger, an item used to start a multiplayer invasion. This will serve as your introduction to the PVP feature.
- Invade using the Festering Bloody Finger 3 times. You do not need to win, you only need to invade.
- Go back and talk to Varre at Rose Church once completed for the instructions on the Final Trial.
- Varre provides you with an item named Lord of Blood’s Favor.

Step # 4 Maiden’s Blood
- There are 2 locations for the Finger Maiden’s Blood.
- Chapel of Anticipation – This can be accessed through the Four Belfries Chapel Anticipation Waygate. You will need to search for the Imbued Sword Key in the chests nearby the waygate, and you will need to defeat the Grafted Scion from the tutorial section.

- Church Inhibition – This can be accessed through the Frenzied Flame Village, south of the Grandlift of Decus. Prepare to fight Festering Fingerprint Vyke.
- Look for the dead Finger Maiden in either of these 2 locations and return to Varre.
- Talk to Varre and will provide you with Bloody Finger, a re-usable version of the Festering Bloody Finger invasion item.
- Talk to Varre once more and he will provide you with a Pure Knight’s Medal which provides access to Mohgwyn Palace.
Step # 5 Invasion of the Nameless Whitemask
- Use Pureblood Knight’s Medal to be transported to the Mohgwyn Palace.
- After, you will be invaded by the Nameless Whitemask which will occur 3 times. (Beating Mohg, Lord of Blood and Varre during your invasion, the Nameless Whitemask will not invade)
- Once the Nameless Whitemask is defeated, it will provide you with a Furlcalling Finger Remedy and War Surgeon Set.
Step # 6 Invade White-Faced Varre
- You may now proceed to the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum to invade White-Faced Varre.
- Once defeated, White-Masked Varre will drop x6 Festering Bloody Finger and Varre’s Bouquet
Step # 7 Ending Mohgwyn Dynasty
- You are done at this point. But if you want to put the final nail in the coffin, look for Mohg, Lord of Blood. It is not an easy fight as this is the Final Area Boss and a Great Rune Bearer.
