Welcome to the very first Indie Hunt! Indie Hunt is a place where we explore the most creative indie games every week.
Indie games keep the gaming industry so entertaining, there’s no doubt about it. So if you don’t have the time to look for new indie games, don’t worry — we got you covered. This is Indie Hunt, Episode 1.
Here’s a selection of 5 “coming soon” indie games for this week.
5. Mark Lane’s Logs: Project H.U.M.A.N.
One line summary: Mark Lane’s Logs is an interesting real-world game that has a ton of potential but has been delayed for more than 3 years now.
The current release date is December 2016. I can’t say if it will be delayed further, or by how many more days. Anyway, let’s talk about the game.
So, what does a real-world game mean anyway? Unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Mark Lane’s Logs is a game set in the actual world where the internet is your playground. You are a real person helping Mark Lane. It’s the world’s first Forensic Alternate Reality game where you’ll be involved in a Federal conspiracy as well as wih a secret society. In fact, the game doesn’t run on software. It will track your progress and give you objectives, however.
You are a forensic detective who is trying to uncover the truth behind a Federal plot. The game will offer you actual investigation scope on a military-grade realistic conspiracy.

You set up your own tools and devices. Smartphones, computers, anything. You will need to take cues from real events and happenings linked to the case. That’s how you’ll proceed in the game. There are 2,000+ elements in the game.
It’s not just a game, but almost like a forensic investigation internship! This is really a dreamy game where you use your real-world skills to hunt facts, uncover the truth, and proceed in the game. Very ambitious, really. Be sure to check the trailer.
Facts: Project H.U.M.A.N. is coming this December (probably) that can be (and needs to be) played on multiple platforms like Windows, Mac, Linux, web, iOS, and Android. Based on the internet, a real world forensic investigation game, themed realism, adventure genre. Homepage.
4. Arakion
One line summary: A true indie dungeon crawler with a colorful world but quite simplistic fight mechanics.
Arakion: Book One is a dungeon crawler where you control a customized three-heroes party. The combat is not the key aspect here. According to the official fun key features — the game has no leveling up (yes, it’s an RPG) because it focuses more on fun than killing everyone in sight. It also offers town building and making pet creatures.
Overall, the game is colorful and the world is created with hard work. Arakion will release over 20 chapters in three “books.”
The game pays homage to many classics like Might & Magic, Dungeon Master, Dark Cloud 2, etc. and tries to include bits and pieces of these classics.

The IndieDB page offers a lot of concept art shots, game screen renders, digital painting art, and 3D models regarding the game. The Greenlight trailer displays brief slices of the gameplay that show how Arakion is a different kind of dungeon crawler.
Facts: Arakion is coming soon (might be postponed until next year) for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Built on Unity, a group-based role-playing dungeon crawler, themed fantasy, role-playing genre. Homepage.
3. Lost Squad
One line summary: Lost Squad is about Half-Life 2: Episode One’s survivor Barney Coulhon (and the character of Half-Life: Blue Shift and the guy who owes Gordon Freeman a beer) and is actually an indie mod.
In Episode One, Alyx and Gordon meet Barney. Lost Squad explains what happens to him after Episode One and why was he not present in Episode Two. Lost Squad is a Source engine game that offers interesting graphics and fluid animations. Game art is good. Shaders are just amazing. World renders are realistic. All these make the game (or mod) a really good indie option for gamers.

An indie mod being so good is the reason why Lost Squad is on the list.
Facts: Lost Squad is coming this December for Windows and is going to be free to play. Built on Source, single-player first-person shooter, themed sci-fi, first-person shooter genre. Homepage.
2. Crossing the Line
One line summary: Gameplay not revealed; graphics look amazing.
Crossing the Line is on this list because of the dedication the team behind the game has shown. There’s just one video that features professional-quality cinematic effects in the beginning and a lot of digital arts in the end, which are probably the many dark characters you will find.
The story is about a police detective trying to figure out the truth behind a terrorist attack that also claimed the life of his wife. This is, however, a supernatural journey. The terrorist organization (or other elements as well) features a lot of dark forces. The game is a first-person shooter.
The “other” world is the shadow world, the world of the dead. That’s where the name’s inspiration lies. The creatures from the shadow world are terrifying soul-hungry creatures.

The concept art and game graphics are both brilliant, courtesy the many images the developers have provided. This game has really excited indie game lovers.
Facts: Crossing the Line is coming soon for Windows, Mac, Linux distributions, Xbox One, and PS4. Built on Unreal Engine 4, single-player story-based thriller-horror combo package, themed noir, first-person shooter genre. The game is on crowd-funding where you can donate for rewards. Homepage.
1. Featured: ARENA GODS
One line summary: ARENA GODS is an incredibly fast, competitive, fun, and addictive game.
The aim of the game is to kill opponents in an arena. You’re given two weapons that any player can use. It’s a lightning fast game for having fun with friends. The last man standing wins. There are multiple arenas to play in, all featuring different challenges and obstacles.

By standing over a knocked down opponent and pressing B, you can execute them in a bloody manner. The many arenas are not bordered completely. You can throw weapons or run through the screen’s edges to arrive at the other end of the screen. This makes the game more fun.
Facts: ARENA GODS is the execution of execution. Coming soon for Windows and Mac. More updates will keep coming as the game is under heavy improvisation. Built on Unity, primarily multiplayer, themed antique, fighting genre. Homepage.
