According to both companies, their goal is to give kids a “family-friendly digital experience.” But because the metaverse is all online, they also highlighted that this project prioritizes children’s safety and security on the internet. Moreover, Epic Games and LEGO gave three principles that are important to this ambitious project of theirs.
- Protect children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority.
- Safeguard children’s privacy by putting their best interests first.
- Empower children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.
When is this metaverse for children launching?
As of writing, both LEGO and Epic Games have not given any release date for when this is going to be available to the public. But from the press release alone, they’re prioritizing children’s safety online.
If you’re unfamiliar with what a metaverse is, it’s essentially an “online playground.” This metaverse that Epic Games and LEGO are launching aims to boost children’s creativity. But while they’re expressing themselves in the metaverse, their well-being, safety, and privacy are upheld.
