FIFA World Cup 2022 Semifinals

It’s been a tough month for football fans but we are now left with only four teams to compete in the FIFA World Cup 2022. Heavy title hopefuls such as Spain, Brazil, and Portugal are now eliminated. As a result, four countries have advanced to the semifinals: Argentina, Croatia, Morocco, and France. Before the semifinals begin in just a few hours, let’s find out who has the highest chance of advancing to the finals and which dark horse team may win it all and go against all odds.

Croatia VS Argentina

The 2018 World Cup 2nd placer, Croatia, eliminated the tournament favorite Brazil last Friday during their quarterfinal match. Croatia now advances to the semifinals and will face another favored team to win it all, Lionel Messi‘s Argentina football club. Deemed the no.2 in World rankings, Argentina is set to win the championship but Croatia may give them a run for their money.

OTHER NEWS: Will Lionel Messi be the G.O.A.T. if he wins the 2022 FIFA World Cup?

Despite getting booked with a yellow card, Messi will not be suspended for the semis. However, Argentina will be missing two key players namely Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuna, which could be a great threat come their game against Croatia which is led by the legendary midfielder, Luka Modric. As a title contender behind France, Argentina is favored to win the World Cup with +170 odds. Their opponent, Croatia, is on the shorter end of the stick with +750 odds. Messi, Modric, and Kyllian Mbappe are all fighting for the World Cup championship as well as the Golden Ball award with Mbappe currently holding the top spot.

France VS Morocco

It isn’t surprising that Kyllian Mbappe and the French national team are once again just a few games away from becoming the back-to-back champions. What’s shocking is how far Morocco has reached in this year’s World cup. Considered the tournament’s long-shot contenders, Morocco did the impossible and eliminated Spain and Portugal which was led by Cristiano Ronaldo. Morocco sent CR7 home after winning their quarterfinal match, 1-0. However, they are up against one of the best countries and another title favorite, France.

Kyllian Mbappe has been unstoppable so far in this tournament and he is hungry for that trophy. He and his team won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but they are still looking to bring this one home. Despite the dominance France is showing, they still must not underestimate a fellow French-speaking nation. Morroco’s defense is outstanding that it only allowed one (1) goal through five games in this year’s World Cup. It’s going to be a bloody battle with Morocco’s emphatic defense against France’s stellar offense. Though France is deemed to come out on top, Morocco could force the French into a penalty shootout battle.
