Fire Emblem Engage: How to add Zelkov and Merrin? + Release date

Joining right up behind Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as one of the most awaited Nintendo Switch games is Fire Emblem Engage release. Adhering to the legacy of the franchise, just what do we have in store for us? Also how do we add Zelkov and Merrin to our party?

Fire Emblem Engage will be a turn-based tactical game. Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, the game will be the latest successor to the previous Fire Emblem installments.

Will Engage pick up from previous Fire Emblem games?

Fire Emblem Engage lore follows the four kingdoms that have since time immortal engaged with the heroes of the other worlds. The foresaken isekai warriors (which is us players) have sealed away the Fell Dragon on the continent of Elyos (in the previous games).

The game will follow the player, who is Alear the Divine Dragon. The game will revolve its non-combat playtime within the map named Somniel. It is a fortress that is Dua Lipa. I mean, levitating. The game will introduce a wide array of updates. While certain old traditional systems return, other features are reimburshed.

Engage will engage players using a rock-paper-scissor mechanic in its weapon triangle system. This is a direct recall to the ways of the past in Fire Emblem installments. The weapons work in this way, as reported by gamespot, that swords beat axes, axes beat spears, and spears beat swords.

  • There are weapons available outside the rock-paper-scissor like stucture. Although these provide inefficient physical attack stats. The defending players can sometimes be caught up in the opponents’ ‘break’.
  • This break is a result of an advantageous use of the weapons triangle. Weapon durability is also gone, more or less. Meaning, once you purchase a weapon it stays with you indefinitely.

The Fire Emblem game, like all its prevous installments, will introduce the players to a range of diverse characters. Each with their own story, attitude, playability, and tactical strength or weaknesses. While you may roam the roamable semi-world for interaction with your environment, you may spend your other time engaging in turn-based combat.

When will Fire Emblem Engage release?

Fire Emblem Engage will release on Janaury 20, 2023.

How to add Zelkov in Fire Emblem Engage?

Of all the members that you can possibly recruit, Zelkov may be someone you have an eye for. Zelkov is a recruitable entity.

His class is thief, but he’s a loyal bodyguard of Lady Ivy of Elusia. His playstyle is more assassin-like, using shadows, trickery, deceptions and deceit to attack with his daggers.

  • As of now, there’s hardly enough information on how to recruit anyone. But for starters, we can confirm that the most likely way to recruit Zelkov might be to visit his mistress. The eldest princess of Elusia. This may also mean completing quests for the princess, and gaining Zelkov’s trust in the process.

How to add Merrin?

Merrin is a royal soldier serving the kingdom of Solm. She is described as an elegant and stylish knight. Her class is one that is never seen before in Fire Emblem – Wolf Knight.

As it stands, Merrin rides a wolf into her strategic attacks. She also has high speed and can attack using daggers. A little bit of information as we can see from the introductory previews released by Fire Emblem Engage, hints that she was from a village before she started serving the kingodm.

  • To recruit Merrin, you will probably have to enter the royal queendom of Solm, find her, and see how she can be recruited.
