Will Gal Gadot Fight for Israel? IDF Service Explained

Many celebrities have shown their support for Israel, including Gal Gadot, after the Hamas terror attack on Saturday that left about 1,200 people dead. As the Wonder Woman star asked everyone not to “sit on the fence” amid the worsening Israel-Palestine conflict, some wonder if the A-list actress will fight for her country, especially since she used to serve as a combat trainer in the Israeli Defense Forces.

Will Gal Gadot Fight for Israel?

Gadot, who also happened to be Miss Israel 2004, was one of the Hollywood stars who first supported Israel by sharing a post on Instagram. The post in question was a photo of the country’s emblem with a note, “I stand with Israel.”

“I stand with Israel you should too,” her caption reads. “The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!”

And her efforts didn’t just stop there. The Israeli model, who represented her country at the Miss Universe 2004, asked for donations from anyone who could and was willing to help. The lives of the people affected by the war have changed instantly after losing so much and now needed a hand. She also shared clips of news revealing what was happening in Israel and a mom looking for her daughter.

Despite these moves and the fact that Gadot served the IDF for two years, it hasn’t been revealed if she has been called up as a reservist and fought for Israel. As it has been a decade since she was in service, it remains to be seen if this will still happen.

Gal Gadot’s IDF Service Explained

It’s mandatory for Israelis to serve the IDF for 32 months, and all the country’s citizens can be called to fight amid the Israel-Palestine conflict. In fact, according to reports, about 300,000 Israeli reservists have been called to join the IDF forces since the war started, though it’s not clear if Gadot is one of them.

Spending two years in the military, the 38-year-old told Fox in August that it helped her be disciplined and learn more about teamwork skills. She even applied these things in her acting career.

“It’s not about you; you’re not number one. Right now, we’re doing something for a greater objective, and when you film a movie, the greater objective is to make a great movie,” she said.

This also helped her not to be spoiled, work hard, and have a “really strong work ethic.” “I think it’s related to that,” she continued.

Gal Gadot’s Love for Israel

Gadot has been showing her love for her country long before the Hamas attack began. She has been representing Israel on the international scene since she joined Miss Universe in 2004. In 2021, she also supported her nation when she addressed the war happening there, worrying for her family, friends, and the people of Israel in general.

Sure, the war in Israel has been a vicious cycle, but things are getting out of hand with the recent terror attack. Though Gadot may not fight against the terrorists on the battlefield, she doesn’t have to do so, as she has been continuously voicing her support for the country and is doing everything she can to help. She’s also spreading awareness to let everyone know what’s happening and how worse the situation is. By the looks of it, Gadot’s influence and cry for help are maybe enough to get other’s attention to focus on the real issue and finally extend a hand.
