Game Boy Games Coming To Switch According To Leaks

For Nintendo, The Switch has brought immense success. In a recent report, the latest earnings were revealed that Nintendo had “sold around 89 million Switch consoles since its 2017 launch”. This roughly translates to Nintendo selling 13.5 million Wii U consoles in a span of seven years.

The Switch hence made history by being one of Nintendo’s most successful consoles ever. Ranging from Breath of the Wild to Super Mario Odyssey, the Switch has some impressive titles. However, it would be wrong to overlook the issues that bother the performance of the Switch.

The Switch even now only has a few classic titles. Meanwhile, a Switch Online membership provides access to “over 100 NES and SNES games”. While all of Nintendo’s other classic old-school consoles seems to be missing, rumour has it that Game Boy might make it appearance on Switch soon.

With Game Boy coming to the Switch, fans are feeling nostalgic as they get a chance to walk down memory lane.

Game Boy Titles Coming to Nintendo Switch Online
  • An exciting leak that got us all turning our heads is when @tlspmoon posted on Twitter. And in a podcast episode of “Nate the Hate” by insider and dataminer NateDrake revealed that Nintendo will soon include Game Boy and Game Boy Color games to Nintendo Switch Online, and that too in the upcoming weeks.
  • To give a more precise time-frame, it will probably be able in time to celebrate third anniversary of Nintendo Switch Online which will be on 18th September.
  • Nintendo Switch Online is quite similar to PlayStation Plus as users will have to pay for its service but at a lower cost. Adding Game Boy to the Switch makes sense but analysing the patterns of Nintendo, it might be that it follows the retro formats where they will only include a handful titles and the beginning and slowly introduce more each month.
