Genshin Impact: Raiden Shogun and Kokomi Rerun; Who Is Better?

Genshin Impact’s newest character, Yae Miko, will leave the limited-time banner in a few days. Taking her spot will be a double-banner featuring Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi’s rerun. In this article, we’ll be explaining who is the better pull between the two Inazuma characters.

Weapons and 4-star characters featured in Phase II of Version 2.5

The 4-star characters accompanying Raiden and Kokomi are Bennett, Sara, and Xinyan. If you’ve been playing Genshin Impact for some time, you might have observed players’ preference for Bennett as a support character. Phase II of Version 2.5 is the perfect time for you to pull for Bennett and have him on your team. Trust us, he’s a gamechanger–especially for clearing Spiral Abyss.

But pulling for Bennett alone should not be your main reason for using your Primogems on this banner. You should weigh out the pros and cons before pulling for a banner you’re not interested in, especially if you’re aiming to build pity for rumored 5-star characters like Kamisato Ayato and Yelan. So there’s a high chance that you’ll get the featured 5-star character and accidentally reset your pity.

As for the weapon banner, it will feature Raiden and Kokomi’s signature weapons, Engulfing Lightning (Polearm) and Everlasting Moonglow (Catalyst). Additionally, 4-star weapons like Akuomaru (Claymore), Mouun’s Moon (Bow), and Favonius Lance (Polearm) will get a significant drop-rate boost.

Is Raiden Shogun worth pulling for?

When Raiden Shogun was first released last year, players were underwhelmed by her skillset and thought she lacked the potential. But after a few patches, Raiden Shogun is easily one of the best Electro battery characters out there. You should take note that she fits the roles of being a sub-DPS and Burst DPS. Give her the right build and you’ll see what we mean by this.

Raiden can deal continuous Electro DMG with her Elemental Skill.

  • You can even cast the skill and switch to a different character, and you’ll see your character dealing additional Electro DMG as they attack enemies. Her Elemental Burst can also help in clearing mobs quicker and easier.
  • Casting it will transform Raiden’s weapon into a sword and usually, the first hit gives the highest DMG. Additionally, it speeds up Raiden’s attacks that will help produce Energy. If you equip her with Energy Recharge-focused artifacts, Raiden’s Burst will be available in no time.

The only downside to this is while casting her Elemental Burst, enemies can still attack her and interrupt Raiden as she is attacking. But as we mentioned, Raiden Shogun is an excellent Electro DPS and battery. If you have Yae Miko on your team and you’re looking for a character she has great synergy with, we suggest you go with Raiden.

Raiden Shogun is one of the 5-star characters who are effective even at C0. But if you want to go all-out with her as a DPS, you should aim to pull for C2 Raiden. This is because her C2 allows Raiden to ignore 60% of enemies’ DEF when using her Burst. Therefore, this makes her one of the strongest Electro DPS characters once you get her to C2.

Is Sangonomiya Kokomi worth pulling for?

Much like Raiden Shogun, Sangonomiya Kokomi was underestimated by players when she first became playable. But these opinions on Kokomi being too weak changed when she was buffed in the following patches. She also got a dedicated artifact set, the Ocean-Hued Clam, which ultimately changed players’ perceptions of her skillset.

But unlike the Electro archon, we don’t recommend using Kokomi as the team DPS.

  • She fits more into the role of team support and healer. Arguably, she is the best healer in the game and aside from that, her Elemental Burst deals some pretty impressive DMG, too.
  • We can probably say that she is like a buffed version of Barbara since both her Elemental Skill and Burst can heal and inflict DMG on enemies. Also, keep in mind that the DMG from her Burst is reliant on her max HP.

Because Kokomi applies the Hydro state to enemies, players can group her with characters like Ganyu, Hu Tao, and Ayaka to trigger Hydro reactions. Vaporize, Freeze, and Electro-charged are some of the powerful reactions players can trigger on enemies. These reactions can help defeat enemies quicker because of the high DMG they can inflict.

Now that you know Kokomi is a great healer, it’s recommended that you equip her with artifacts that focus on HP%, Healing Bonus, and/or Energy Recharge. Her signature weapon, the Everlasting Moonglow, offers an HP bonus. If you don’t have catalysts that offer the same stats, you can equip Kokomi with Energy Recharge-focused catalysts like the Oathsworn Eye since her Elemental Burst is the most effective skill she has.

Who is the better choice between Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi?

Honestly, both characters are great in their own ways. The choice heavily relies on what kind of character you need for your team. If you need a strong Electro DPS, pull for Raiden Shogun. But if you need a stronger healer than Barbara, pull for Kokomi.

Raiden easily beats Kokomi in terms of DMG, but Kokomi gives you more chances of surviving in battles because of her high HP and healing output. In conclusion, there is no better choice between them since they fill different roles.
