Best builds for Yelan in Genshin Impact
To effectively use Yelan in your team, you first need to know which roles are suitable for her. Although she has an incredible DMG output with her skillset, Yelan is not fit to be the Main DPS of your team. As of now, she’s suitable to be the Sub-DPS of your team. On the other hand, you can also use her as a Support. Either of the two will work as long as you pair her with the right characters.
Yelan slightly relies on Constellations to be effective
If you plan on using Yelan but only have her at C0, there are some setbacks to this. Similar to other 5-star characters, Yelan’s Elemental Burst cost is high. However, this can be fixed if you have her at C1. Additionally, having her at C2 will make her Hydro application from her Burst more effective.
So keep that in mind if you are still planning on pulling for Yelan. But that does not take away the fact that she has some impressive skillset under her belt.

Yelan Sub-DPS/Support build
If you want Yelan to fill the Sub-DPS role in your team, you have to focus on giving her artifacts which boosts her Elemental Burst DMG. Moreover, you should look for weapons which help in boosting her Energy Recharge. To effectively use Yelan as your team’s Sub-DPS, aim for 180+ Energy Recharge.
Recommended Weapon for Yelan Sub-DPS build
The best weapon for any Yelan build is the 5-star bow Aqua Simulacra. Moreover, this is also Yelan’s BiS weapon so if you have extra Wishes, you can get the Aqua Simulacra from the current weapon banner.
But if you don’t have the Aqua Simulacra in your inventory, here are alternative weapons for this Yelan build:
- Polar Star (5-star)
- Elegy for the End (5-star)
- Favonius Warbow (4-star)
- Sacrificial Bow (4-star)
Recommended artifacts
For this build, you will rely mostly on her Elemental Burst to inflict DMG on enemies. So with that being said, you’re better off equipping her with a 4-pc. Emblem of Severed Fate. This is because the 4-pc. set adds a 20% boost to the wielder’s Energy Recharge. Additionally, her Elemental Burst DMG will also increase depending on her Energy Recharge %.

Talent Priority for Yelan
If you’re decided on using Yelan as your Sub-DPS, you need to prioritize leveling up her Talents for Elemental Skill and Burst. By doing so, you can amplify your team’s DMG output.
First, you want to maximize Yelan’s Elemental Burst: Depth-Clarion Dice. Then, you can focus on leveling up her Elemental Skill: Lingering Lifeline.
After that, you can focus on leveling up her Normal Skill if you want to use her for exploring Teyvat.
