Although they are not part of the main story, unlocking a Nornir Chest in God of War: Ragnarok reaps useful rewards like extending your health points or your rage meter. Where to find Nornir Chest in The Barrens

The Barrens is one of the many areas in God of War: Ragnarok where there is a Nornir Chest awaiting zealous warriors. You will also find yourself in this area if you’re just coming down from The Temple of Light with Tyr, which is the fourth chapter in the game. Aside from unlocking the Nornir Chest, you’ll want to do the Secret of the Sands favor to hit two birds with one stone. Alternatively, you can also unlock the Nornir Chest in The Barrens without having to do the Secret of the Sands favor first. You’ll just have to deal with the relentless sandstorm in the first part of the Alfheim desert to get to this chest.

Location

To get to this Nornir Chest in The Barrens, you need to go to the northwestern part of the desert. Look for the structure that has hive matter all over it. Take note of the hive matter as you need to clear them first before you can start unlocking the Nornir Chest. For this chest, you will have to light up three runes in order to unlock it. Clearing the hive matter is easy as all you have to do is line up Kratos’ Leviathan Axe so it will go through all three cores in one throw. Once you’re in position, launch your axe and clear the hive matter.

Where to find three torches

• The first torch can be found to your left when you are facing the structure. Look for the ledge you can climb on and the torch should be right beside it.

• As for the second torch, go all the way around the structure until you can spot it perched on higher ground. You will need to get up close to it so Kratos’ Blades of Chaos can reach it. On the other hand, you can also enlist the help of your Companion with their Sigil Arrows.
• For the final torch, this is where clearing the hive matter becomes useful. With the hive matter gone, go back to the first torch and look up. The third and final torch needed for this Nornir Chest will be located at the very top of the structure.

• At first glance, you may think you’ll need Sigil Arrows for this. But if you look closely, you’ll find an oil lamp near the third torch. Use your Leviathan Axe to break the oil lamp and after a short explosion, the third rune should be unlocked.

Get onto the ledge in front of you to unlock the Nornir Chest and claim your rewards. For this Nornir Chest in The Barrens, warriors receive a Horn of Blood Mead. Your rage meter gets extended when you collect a certain number of these Horns, so you better get to unlocking other Nornir Chests in God of War: Ragnarok!
