Hogwarts Legacy No Microtransactions Promised: WB Games
We finally have an extended look at Hogwarts Legacy’s gameplay and boy, oh boy, it looks ambitious. It’s still in development and from what we’ve seen so far, it is pretty good. The good news is, Hogwarts Legacy won’t have any microtransactions or in-game purchases. WOOHOO!
Microtransactions and In-Game Purchases
Hogwarts Legacy’s official website has a long FAQ page that mentions the same. In its “Are there in-game purchases or micro-transactions in Hogwarts Legacy section?”, the answer says –
Hogwarts Legacy does not have in-game purchases or micro-transactions.
Chandler Wood, Avalanche’s community manager also clarified the same on Twitter. He writes, “We’ve seen this question coming up and want to set the record straight. There are no microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy.”
Let’s see if they hold up to their words. Why do I say that? Well, because Ubisoft once said The Division doesn’t have microtransactions. And the next thing we know, the game had a lot of the same.
In the Wizarding World, we’ll require different spells and potions, and I’m assuming they’ll require time to brew. So, can we pay real-life money to speed up the process? We have no clue. Will Hogwarts Legacy end up being a cash-cow for WB Games?
Hogwarts Mystery is a game filled with microtransactions, similar to many other mobile games. It feels like F2P games are dead and they only act as bait to lure in players, just to have them spend real-life money next.
Back in 2018, the entire gaming community heavily criticized WB for making Middle-earth: Shadow of War a microtransaction hellhouse. Six months after launch, WB removed all microtransactions and lootboxes from the game.
Whatever it is, we’ll keep you updated on more from Hogwarts Legacy. There’s much more to cover, so make sure you follow us on Twitter @HogwartsLNews to stay updated.
Hogwarts Legacy has a 2022 release window and will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
Until next time, Stay Safe, Wear A Mask, and Happy Gaming!
