Breaking Even is one of the several sides available in Horizon Forbidden West. To finish it, players must explore a cave-in at The Spinebreak. This is a massive tunnel that leads through the vast mountain range that divides the game’s globe in half. It’s a simple quest with clear objectives for the most part, but there’s a dash of mystery thrown in for good measure.
During the Breaking Even or Burning Blooms’ side quests, players may come across a locked door in The Spinebreak.
Players will be entrusted with locating an entry to the eastern side of the canyon not long after battling the massive Rockbreaker that took out most of Porguf’s crew and regaining the lockbox. This will lead them to a smaller tunnel on the far side with a closed door that requires a passcode. Here’s how to get that code and use it to unlock the door in Horizon Forbidden West.

Spinebreak Door, 2 Ways
- Early Path (Two Birds with One Stone)
- You will not have the door code until the Breaking Even side mission starts. However, it is technically feasible to unlock it much sooner. This is by entering the cave from No Man’s Land’s eastern exit. The Burning Blooms side quest ends just next to the door. Unlock the door once Talanah leaves.
- Spinebreak Code
- The Spinebreak’s door code is 2054. You can find out the code by scanning a nearby Datapoint like most of the other door codes. The other side is in a small area off to the right of the chamber where players must blow up the Blaze barrels to clear a blockage.
-
- You can access the door by passing through the hole in the wall after the Blaze is lit. Go to the right side of the bigger chamber, which is the room with the Datapoint. A safe containing some antique rarities on the other side of the door. You can sell them for a healthy supply of Metal Shards at any of the game’s merchants.
