How to Beat Ghostflame Dragon | Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
The Ghostflame Dragon, an ethereal and imposing foe, awaits Tarnished adventurers in the Dragonbarrow of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Its spectral flames and powerful attacks make this dragon a challenge, but with the right strategies, victory is attainable.

Ghostflame Dragon’s Skills
- Ghostflame Breath: A dragon-flavored flamethrower sweeping across the ground or aimed straight at your face.
- Wing Buffet: A quick flap of those massive wings that can knock you out.
- Bite and Claw Attacks: Classic dragon moves with a ghostly twist. Watch out for these chompers and claws!
- Ghostflame Stomp: When the dragon throws a tantrum and slams its foot down, erupting ghostflame all around. Not the best time for a hug.
- Tail Swipe: This sweeping attack with its tail packs a serious wallop.
- Aerial Divebomb: Think of this as a dragon belly flop from the sky. Dodge it, or get flattened.
Battle Strategies
- Aim for those spindly legs to deal major damage and make the dragon trip. That’s your cue for a critical hit party.
- Get cozy under the dragon’s belly to avoid most of its fiery attacks. But watch out for that Ghostflame Stomp!
- When the dragon’s down for the count, aim for the head to land that knockout blow.
- Don’t spam those dodge-rolls. Save your stamina for when you really need to avoid a fiery fate.
This dragon doesn’t have phases, but it gets angrier and faster as its health drops. Expect more fire and fury!
Additional Tips
- Go big or go home! Heavy or colossal weapons are your best bet for dishing out damage. Or, if you’re feeling nimble, go for fast-hitting weapons. Summon your spectrals, like the Mimic Tear, to distract the dragon and deal extra damage.
- Chow down on some Fireproof Dried Liveror cast the Flame Cleanse Me incantation to protect yourself from the heat. Ride your trusty steed to close the gap at the beginning quickly, but then ditch it for better maneuverability.
- Watch the dragon’s attacks like a hawk and learn its patterns to dodge like a pro. This fight is tough, but you’re tougher! Keep practicing and refining your strategy, and you’ll emerge victorious.
