Get ready to throw down with the Death Knight in the Shadow of the Erdtree’s creepy catacombs. While some find this enemy pretty easy to beat, some are also having a more challenging time. Here are some tips on how to beat the Death Knight.
Found in the last room at the very end of the catacombs. |
Phase 1
- Lightning Spear: This lightning-quick thrust is easy to dodge with a well-timed roll.
- Lightning Surge: A rapid charge followed by a zap. Dodge, roll, and dodge! Or, if you’re feeling brave, block with a shield.
- Ground Lightning: When the knight slams its weapon, a wave of lightning will shoot along the ground. Jump or roll to safety.
Keep your distance, but not too far. You don’t want to get grabbed. Use those pillars to cover when lightning starts flying. When the knight’s attack combo ends, that’s your cue to punish it with heavy attacks or bleed buildup.
Phase 2
- Lightning Stomp: The knight gets angry and stomps the ground, sending out a shockwave of lightning. Jump or run to avoid it.
- Double Lightning Spear: Two lightning spears in quick succession? Yep, that’s what you’re dealing with. Time your dodges carefully.
Keep using those Phase 1 strategies, but be ready for these new attacks. Be patient and strike when you see an opening. Don’t get greedy!
Additional Tips
- The Death Knight is a master of lightning, packs a mean grab, and moves like greased lightning. Bleed him dry, hit with heavy blunt attacks, and keep the pressure on to knock ’em off balance.
- Pick your poison – either a bleed weapon (like Rivers of Blood or Reduvia) or a colossal weapon for staggering (like Greatsword or Giant-Crusher).
- Beef up your health with the Crimson Amber Medallion, swing faster with the Blue-Feathered Branchsword, and unleash a fury of attacks with the Ritual Sword Talisman. And as always, summon your spectral friends, like Mimic Tear or Black Knife Tiche, for a tag-team beatdown.
Take down the Death Knight and claim your prize: its awesome twin axes and the Crimson Amber Medallion +3.
