Ark Survival Evolved may have left age-old players with a century’s dilemma. With ARK 2 soon taking charge with its epic release, new players too are joining the line of critical questioning – ones that ask “should I grind in Ark Survival Evolved or save up for Ark 2?“. But for those who don’t plan on going anywhere other than their own frenzied Fjordur base (and all maps, for that matter), we got you covered. Here’s where to find organic polymer in Ark.
What is Organic Polymer in Ark? Why is it replaceable for Polymer?
Organic Polymer is a variant of Polymer. While normal Polymers are artificial objects crafted by putting obsidian and cementing paste together, Organic Polymer is as its name explains – organic.
Another natural substitute for Polymer is Corrupted Nodule, which is exclusive to Extinction. It can be obtained by collecting the remains of Corrupted Creatures in the Wasteland.
Many people find Organic Polymer to be far more difficult than getting normal polymer from the obsidian and cementing paste. While some seem to love harvesting organic polymers directly despite it having a very high spoil time (it spoils very fast).
How to get Organic Polymer in Ark
In ARK: Survival Evolved, there are three primary methods to obtain Organic Polymer.
Hitting and killing corpses to retrieve Organic Polymer in Ark
These include defeating creatures that drop it and collecting it from certain tamed creatures
- Organic Polymer in Ark can be obtained by defeating Kairuku, Hesperornis, Mantis, Karkinos, Deathworm and hitting their corpse.
- Additionally, players can obtain even more Organic Polymer from their corpses by using a Chainsaw, Sword, or Wooden Club to strike them, much like how wood is gathered from trees using similar tools
Taming Creatures and making them produce Organic Polymer in Ark
As many creatures have the ability to roam, forage, hunt, and gather resources independently, players can enlist their non-human companions to aid in obtaining Organic Polymer.
However, it’s important to periodically check their inventories and collect the gathered resources. The following creatures are capable of harvesting Organic Polymer:
- Dire Bear
- Direwolf
- Pelagornis
- Sabertooth
- Thylacoleo
- Therizinosaur
- Mantis
It’s worth noting that the most efficient creature for passive Organic Polymer gathering is the Achatina, a giant snail that can be tamed.
Processing items in Industrial Grinder
The grinder unlocks level 64 and allows for old tools to be ground in order to fine-produce the items that were used in them.
While you may have noticed there’s always an option to demolish structures and buildings. Grinder works similarly technically, but its material returns are ten times higher (just saying).
If players throw items made with regular Polymer into an Industrial Grinder, they can be broken down into Organic Polymer. Therefore, it’s recommended that players recycle any old items they no longer need by tossing them into the grinder.
Harvesting plants in non-canon (DLC but Free) maps
- One can also harvest white plants found only in ARK Fjordur, in the plants in Aberration Caves.
In Aberration and Valguero, players can harvest large white plants with orb-like flowers to obtain a decent amount of Organic Polymer. Since these are regular plants, no tools are required to harvest them; players can simply walk up and grab them.
These plants are easy to spot in the dark and damp Aberration, making it a great place to search for them, but they can also be found in Valguero.
- Alternatively, a riskier but more rewarding way to obtain Organic Polymer is by harvesting structures in a Bee Cave amidst waves of honey.
Although Organic Polymer can be substituted for regular Polymer, it is less desirable due to its limited stacking capacity of 20 and a spoil timer (which it very low).
Where to find Organic Polymer in Ark
Now, when talking about finding organic polymer in Ark one naturally has to draw a necessary bridge. Because asking where to find organic polymer in a specific map of Ark is a better and much more worthwhile question.
How many Maps are there in Ark?
Presently, there exist six official and six non-canonical maps for ARK:
