Is Bob Iger’s ‘Frozen 4’ Announcement Hasty? Netizens React

Bob Iger's Frozen 4 announcement garnered mixed responses

Disney’s CEO Bob Iger began teasing Frozen 4 before the release of Frozen 3. Fans have always been excited for new installments in this franchisee as both, the original and sequel, were box office successes. Since their release, Frozen 3 was the next big project announced but the details have been sparse. In this situation- Is the announcement of Frozen 4 a hasty decision? Let’s find out.

Bob Iger confirms Frozen 4 before Frozen 3 release

Bob Iger appeared on Good Morning America to share updates about the ongoing projects at Disney Animation. While talking about Frozen, he shared that not one but two stories are being developed at the studio by Jenn Lee, the original creator of the franchisee.

This announcement in itself isn’t surprising as the series following the adventures of Elsa and Anna has been immensely successful. The first two installments made $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office, respectively. Adding more installments mimicking the success can provide Disney with another profitable series similar to Toy Story.

However, as the details of the series’ third installment have been kept away from the public, netizens expressed mixed emotions about the announcement. On one hand, they are happy to know that the chronicles at Arendelle will continue but on the other hand, they would have liked to learn more about the release of Frozen 3. Read some of their reactions below.

Is it too soon to talk about Frozen 4?

The announcement of Frozen 4 even before the reveal of a tentative release of its former film might seem ambiguous but it is positive news. The major reason why fans are expressing mixed emotions is because Frozen 3 was announced after four years of the film’s first sequel’s release.

The latest teasing appears to further the time between the sequels. If the timeline continues, then the upcoming sequel wouldn’t be released until 2025, and the fourth installmentment until the 2030s.

Due to this, the reactions of fans are understandable but on the bright side, Iger said that the team is working on both new installments simultaneously. A similar way of production was used for Avatar: The Way Of Water and Avatar 3, where the creators shot the sequences of the next installment along with the former film.

This practice can significantly shorten the time of release between two films. It can also help create a more fleshed-out plot that can tie all the loose ends in the next installment. Currently, the second installment ended with Anna becoming the queen of Arendelle and Elsa opting to protect the Enchanted Forest.

There are a lot of ways where the story can progress so the upcoming Disney Frozen sequels will surely be worth the wait.
