One of the most well-known video games in the world, Minecraft features several servers that have become increasingly popular all around the world. Mineplex is one of the most popular servers in the game. Mineplex rivaled even High Pixel in terms of popularity while it was at its height. Mineplex’s quality and popularity had been deteriorating for some time, though, and in May 2023 it was announced that Mineplex will be permanently shutting down. Let’s examine the real reasons for this Minecraft server’s Mineplex shutting down and determine the reasons behind this decision.
Reasons why Minecraft’s Mineplex is shutting down
Although this server has been one of the biggest servers in the Minecraft universe, this server recently turned into more of a memeplex. Here are all the reasons why Mineplex is shutting down and do comment below to tell us if you feel whether it is for good or not.
Increased cost
It could be due to the same factors that caused Hive to discontinue its Java Edition: a limited player base and hefty expenditures. The hive claims that it is far less expensive to host Bedrock Edition servers than Java ones. But if this were the case with Mineplex, it wouldn’t explain why the server is also shut down on Bedrock Edition, so what may be happening? Can it be an internal issue that got so grave that they had to shut the server down?
Hackers all around
The Bedrock edition of the server had fewer players who followed the ethics of gaming. Most of the players in the server were ones who would hack. The server was filled with hackers and it destroyed the gaming experience as a whole. The worst, it wasn’t taken care of as it should have been. All of this caused a decline in the overall reputation of the server.
Bugs
They say there are 10 quintillion bugs in this world, but it’s still lesser than what Mineplex had. At a point, it had gotten so hard to even join the lobby and if you were lucky enough to join it, you would be stuck there forever. We’re not quite sure if that was for the best.
No Innovation
The whole quality and innovation of the server had been going down for quite a while. There were no updates for the existing games. Furthermore, it didn’t have any unique games or features which could keep the players hooked on it. This might have decreased the traffic and increased the overall cost.
Community feedback
Mineplex is gone. It's actually gone. It's been down for weeks on Java, it was down on Bedrock and even the website and the forums were down too.
Today, it was removed from the Featured Servers list on Bedrock…and it's over.

Mineplex had a huge fanbase and community built around it. Hence, when everyone got the news about Mineplex shutting down, people were quick to take to social media, expressing their mixed feelings about it.
Some of them were furious, some were sad, and some were happy as the quality of Mineplex was going down every passing day. How do you feel about the shutdown of Mineplex?
As memeable as Mineplex has been, it still had some of the peak moments and gamemodes in MC Multiplayer history. It's sad to see it go
