Kevin Durant’s 53-Point Outburst Against the Knicks
March 14, 2022 – Two teams from New York City, The New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets faced off in Barclays Center in a very tight and close game. The former MVP, Kevin Durant, took over the game and recorded a season-high 53 points for the Nets while also securing the victory. The Nets managed to steal the game away from the Knicks by just 3 points, 110-107.

Brooklyn just led by 1 point (106-105) with less than 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Knicks, on the other hand, tried to take the lead but messed up when Evan Fournier turned the ball over.
Durant was a man on a mission, scoring almost half of the Nets’ points (53 out of 110).
No one seemed to have the ability to stop the wrath of KD that night. He made 19 out of 37 shots while also tallying 9 assists and 6 rebounds.

Although the Knicks had a good run and great flow in offense, they still fell short to the Nets. Three Knicks players scored more than 20 points – R.J. Barret (24), Evan Fournier (25), and Julius Randle (26).
Before KD’s injury in January, the Brooklyn Nets were a top seed in the East.
Durant was also a top-three MVP candidate and was carrying the team towards another deep playoff run. With him, Kyrie, Simmons, and great supporting casts (Curry, Drummond, Mills, Dragic, Aldridge, Brown,), the Nets are looking scary.

On a side note, New York’s government received backlash from the fans for not letting Kyrie Irving play in home games but allowing him to watch courtside for the Nets. Kyrie is not allowed to participate in these games due to him being unvaccinated. These rules and health protocols are yet to be reassessed in the future, but until then, we probably will not be seeing Kyrie play at home.
