The game was supposed to be released in the early stages of 2020 for both the mobile and console; however, due to the crisis surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it got pushed back indefinitely.
But, now we finally have an official gameplay reveal time (29th May at 11 am ET / 8 am PT in the Summer Game Fest), and possibly an official release date announcement along with it.

The major differences between Wild Rift and League of Legends.
Riot Games’ 10-year anniversary event came with the company announcing an ambitious list of new titles that they hope to release in the coming months. With Legends of Runeterra officially out and Valorant getting its full-game release on the second of June, it seems that the time for Wild Rift has finally come.
Based on LOL characters, Wild Rift may feel and look like the parent game, but it has a lot of differences that sets it apart. Here are some of the major changes to keep in mind:
- Summoners Rift (the main map in LOL) has been refined and tweaked to support a mobile and console-based gameplay.
- Champion abilities along with runes and masteries have been changed to make it more platform-friendly.
- Game length has also been shortened, so we can assume that changes have been made to the XP and gold gain to speed up champion scaling.
- 36 champions will be released rather than the full roster of 148.
Wild Rift is the League of Legends game for those who either do not have the time or do not want to commit to longer games in Summoners Rift. As you can even play the game on the mobile phone, it will be quite attractive to those who spend most of their time traveling and away from a proper setup to play the parent game.
