Big reveals, unexpected comebacks, and plenty of new trailers made Summer Game Fest 2026 a busy night for fans. If you follow the latest game releases, there was no shortage of announcements worth keeping an eye on.

Summer Game Fest 2026 packed a huge number of announcements into its two-hour showcase. Fans got franchise revivals, long-awaited sequels, brand-new games, and several surprises that quickly sparked discussion across the gaming community. The event also showed why it remains one of the biggest dates on the entertainment calendar.

Sequels take center stage

Capcom opened the show with one of the biggest reveals of the night: Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the classic Resident Evil: Code Veronica. The game is scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Early footage pointed to a darker and more modern take on the original survival horror experience.

Studio MDHR followed with two major announcements. The developer confirmed that a brand-new Cuphead sequel is officially in game development. Alongside it came the reveal of Mighty Cuphead Adventure, inspired by classic games.

Another major surprise arrived with Alien: Isolation 2, bringing the acclaimed horror franchise back after years of fan requests. Sega also unveiled Virtua Fighter Crossroads, a new entry that appears to take the series in a more story-driven direction while retaining its martial arts roots. Both projects are currently targeting 2027 releases and immediately stood out within the latest game releases announced during the showcase.

Japanese creators shine

Xbox players will get gen ATLAS, a new open-world adventure from Fumito Ueda. RGG Studio also revealed Stranger Than Heaven, an ambitious action-adventure spanning five decades of Japanese history that launches on January 15, 2027 and will be available through Xbox Game Pass.

Ubisoft showcased Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a reimagined version of the beloved pirate adventure arriving on July 9, 2026. Meanwhile, PlatinumGames revealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, based on the popular graphic novel series.

The showcase also featured several notable science-fiction projects. Remedy presented Control Resonant, which promises the studio’s largest and most detailed environment yet. Star Wars: Galactic Racer introduced a story-focused racing adventure set in the Star Wars universe. Strategy fans also received a closer look at Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactics game launching on August 27, 2026.

Big names end strong

Role-playing and action fans also had plenty to watch. New trailers arrived for Lords of the Fallen 2, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Swords of Legends, and The Blood of Dawnwalker. RuneScape: Dragonwilds also showed off its cooperative survival gameplay ahead of its September launch. The lineup showcased several gaming trends currently shaping the market.

Several familiar franchises returned as well. Grounded 2 received a PlayStation 5 release date, Palworld finally set a date for Version 1.0, and Telltale announced both The Wolf Among Us Remastered and The Wolf Among Us 2. Capcom also revealed Street Fighter 6’s Year 4 roster, with Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa joining as a guest fighter. Excitement around the crossover quickly made it one of the event’s biggest entertainment talking points.

The show ended with what may have been its biggest reveal. Final Fantasy VII Revelation was unveiled as the final chapter of the remake trilogy. Square Enix confirmed a simultaneous launch across all platforms, bringing one of gaming’s most celebrated modern remakes to a close and ending the showcase on a high note.
