Mafia: Definitive Edition Has Influences From The Godfather Part 1 And 2
The entire entertainment industry around mobsters and the Mafia grew rapidly after Mario Puzo’s The Godfather book series. Mafia: Definitive Edition takes influences from the iconic film adaptations of The Godfather and The Godfather Part II as well.
Both films influenced the game. But, Hangar 13 explored much more entertainment to deliver a perfect Mafia experience.
Speaking to USGamer, Hangar 13 President and Chief Creative Officer Haden Blackman said, “We looked not so much at any specific film, but just the general films of the time period, the look and feel of films that were actually shot in the 20s and 30s,” says Blackman. “Especially the 30s during prohibition. Photographs and music from the time period, all of that has gone into the mix as we define the tone, feel, and atmosphere.”
Mafia: Definitive Edition will be out for PC on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28.
