Mafia: Definitive Edition Will Include Advanced Difficulty Settings
Mafia: Definitive Edition is a mixup of the original Mafia and has a plethora of great features from Mafia 3. In addition to the basic difficulty options you find in every game, Mafia: Definitive Edition will include some special, separate, and unique, advanced difficulty settings for the player to create a unique experience of their own.
For instance, Mafia: Definitive Edition will include settings for police presence and how they treat infractions. This, however, doesn’t limit you from playing the game as the original.
Speaking to USGamer, Hangar 13 President and Chief Creative Officer Haden Blackman said, “The original was a challenging game and that was part of its appeal. So trying to walk that line with our normal difficulty mode and make sure that it feels still like a compelling experience for those that remember the original, but doesn’t alienate new fans and players. We’re trying to solve that by providing you with control over a number of different options.”
Like in Mafia 3, Mafia: Definitive Edition will feature two driving options- simulation driving mode, just like the original Mafia, and the accessible driving mode for the mainstream audience. Although it was present in Mafia 3, developer Hangar 13 has reworked and improved it to fit better in the 1930s Lost Heaven.
In terms of missions, Mafia: Definitive Edition will have more meaningful and diverse missions in contrary to Mafia 3’s repetitive and boring ones. One feature from Mafia 3, however, won’t be a part of the Definitive Edition; the neighborhood policing system.
Mafia: Definitive Edition’s combat would be more lethal and for a protagonist who isn’t a fighter, but rather a cab driver, “every bullet matters”. Talking about story and narrative, important characters will have more screen time and character development for a stronger impact.
Mafia: Definitive Edition will be out for PC on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28.
