New Youtube record alert! After 10 long years, MrBeast has finally amassed 100 million subscribers on YouTube. Let that sink in for a second. 🤯 So what is his secret? How did he go from 0 subscribers to 100 million? Let’s find out!
MrBeast’s Journey to 100M Subscribers
In 2012, at the age of 13, Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast) started his journey on YouTube. He set out to do one thing: to grasp the algorithm and upload videos that may become viral. MrBeast created videos and tutorials on video games like Minecraft and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
In spite of four years of effort, he had only gotten a few thousand views on this particular style of video. MrBeast then began doing reaction videos that gained him about 30 thousand followers in 2016.
This same year, he went to college for a few weeks, but it didn’t last because his primary goal was to become a YouTuber. With the support of his family, he began to spend long periods of time thinking about what content to produce.
Becoming a YouTube Sensation
In the midst of a vast variety of experiments, he discovered a somewhat strange approach. In 2017, MrBeast produced a video where he counted from zero to one hundred thousand. It took him 44 hours to record, but he was able to publish it to the site after cutting it down to only 24 hours, all thanks to editing. It currently has more than 25 million views. After that, he increased the stake and counted up to 200 thousand. Coz why not, right? 😵
Fidget spinners became the subject of one of his subsequent viral videos. Another example is MrBeast binge-watch the “It’s Everyday Bro” music video by Jake Paul for a total of ten hours.
Aside from that, he attempted to smash a glass with 100 megaphones at once, recorded himself watching paint dry for an hour, and attempted to submerge himself underwater for 24 hours but was unable to do so owing to health issues. By November 2017, MrBeast would have 1 million members as a result of his ridiculous yet entertaining content.
In the aftermath of these groundbreaking achievements on the platform, MrBeast became a well-known content creator with a sizable following. To further cement his YouTube presence, he sought out sponsors and made a series of random donations to strangers.
The Secret to MrBeast’s Success
While he had already become an Internet sensation, some criticized the type of content MrBeast was making, which was considered ludicrous challenges in the majority of the cases. However, he refused to give in to the negativity and proceeded to come up with ideas that caught widespread attention.
All of his challenges were funded primarily by two sources: his YouTube ad revenue and the sponsorship from firms he worked with to market their products. And so, MrBeast was able to provide even more extravagant rewards.
Quidd, a firm that specializes in digital collectibles, decided to partner with MrBeast after he revealed his ideas and vision. In 2017, MrBeast handed $10,000 to a homeless guy, with the condition that the man does not use the money for drugs or alcohol.
In addition to being viral, the video received a positive response from the audience as an unbelievable gesture. With that, he embarked on a road that would ultimately lead to career and financial success.
In the course of his career, he’d given countless challenges to friends and strangers. MrBeast handed out mansions, luxurious vehicles, and millions of dollars backed by well-known brands. In addition, he also launched his own clothing line and YouTube accounts in Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese that already have millions of subscribers.
MrBeast: YouTube’s Biggest Philanthropist
Even though his most famous videos are ones where he hosts challenges, his content also includes offering donations and gifts to individuals in need. In 2018, he was dubbed “YouTube’s Biggest Philanthropist,” after donating more than $1 million to charitable causes.
Within the next year, MrBeast also collaborated with video game and technology companies to take on even greater tasks. He arranged a $200k Apex Legends tournament and generated donations for the planting of more than 20 million trees. It was a global gathering that raised $22 million.
“I want to be the biggest YouTube channel ever. Not even for my ego. It just gives me something to strive for, to get out of bed and grind for. But it’s also just vanity.”
After releasing a video titled, “I Opened A Restaurant That Pays You To Eat At It,” in December 2020, MrBeast received more than 100 million views. In addition to the free food, he gave money to those who ate at his restaurant.

He released yet another one of his wildly popular videos in November of 2021. Following Netflix’s Squid Game popularity, MrBeast created his own replica in stunning locations inspired by the South Korean series. The winner walked away with $456,000.
Jimmy Donaldson, a 23-year-old YouTube star, raked in $54 million in revenue in 2021, according to Forbes magazine, making him the highest-paid YouTuber in the world at the time. Many YouTubers and content creators have been inspired by MrBeast’s journey. A young man who discovered his love of content creation and decided to devote his life to it fully committed himself to learn as much as he could in order to succeed and affect the lives of millions worldwide.
“I like having it where everyone can support [my] charity. My goal is to feed hundreds of millions of people.”
