The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has suspended It’s Showtime for 12 airing days. This decision came after they received multiple complaints from the viewers regarding alleged ‘indecent acts.’ Here’s a timeline looking into what happened on It’s Showtime that led to its temporary suspension.
MTRCB suspends It’s Showtime for 12 airing days
The final decision to suspend the variety show came on Monday, September 4. The representative at MTRCB shared an official statement announcing the final verdict months after the Kapamilya noontime show producers received a summon from the government agency.
- The statement reads that the viewers submitted multiple complaints to the MTRCB regarding the indecent acts aired on July 25, 2023. The government body further highlights that the program’s hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez‘s manner during the Isip Bata segment was against the rules set of television shows.
- The mentioned case was submitted to the MTRCB’s Hearing and Adjudication Committee. They asked the respondents to submit their position papers after hearing the case as a follow-up procedure. After announcing the suspension, the committee notes that the producers of It’s Showtime can file a motion for reconsideration within the next 15 days.
- However, if MTRCB doesn’t grant them the reconsideration, then they can appeal to the Office of the President within a fortnight of the decision. In the same statement, MTRCB pointed out that this isn’t the first time they have received complaints, which led to giving a ‘preventive suspension.’
What are It’s Showtime‘s indecent acts?
The viewers logged complaints after It’s Showtime host Ion Perez placed cake icing on his finger and licked it. Following this, he shared the icing with his partner Vice Ganda, who scooped it off his finger and ate it. This activity violated the Section 3 (c) of Presidential Decree No. 1986.
- Apart from that, there are two additional cases for which the Board issued a warning. First, the hosts Jhong Hilario and Vice Ganda said the word ‘G-spot’ during the episode aired on January 24, 2023. This event violated Section 2 (B), Chapter IV of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Presidential Decree (P.D.) No. 1986.
- Second, host Vhong Navarro said the word ‘Tinggil’ during the episode on June 3, 2023. However, this second complaint received dismission due to ‘lack of merit.’ Meanwhile, the first complaint is under reconsideration after the makers submitted an appeal.
The producers released an official statement
The producers of It’s Showtime published an official statement on their official social media handles. The statement reads that they will file a Motion for Reconsideration. They are also working closely with MTRCB to ensure the show can continue airing. They also added their gratefulness to the Madlang People for always supporting and loving It’s Showtime.

Many fans mentioned that the show can still air through online streaming and there’s nothing to worry about.

- As the makers have filed a Motion for Reconsideration, the next verdict will be released after a fortnight. They might as well appeal to the Office of the President or accept the verdict of the MTRCB and not air the show on the channel for 12 airing days.
