It’s probably not the end for our favorite counters yet. So-Mun, Ha-Na, and others may just be back again for another adventure in The Uncanny Counter. Unlike the previous season, Season 2’s foes are much more powerful and heavily challenge the counters, both physically and emotionally. As Uncanny Counter’s Season 2 comes to an end, the big question is, will there be a third season?
Will there be a ‘The Uncanny Counter’ Season 3?
As of now, TVN and Netflix, which both aired the beloved K-drama, have not announced the release date nor hinted at the cast to return for a third season. Season 2 also ended in a heartfelt farewell to the show and its viewers. However, The Uncanny Counter actress Yeom Hye-Ran (who played Mae-Ok) teased their fans with a subtle hint during her closing remarks for The Uncanny Counter season 2.
“It’s been quite a journey, and I’m genuinely grateful that we could wrap it up safely. To the viewers and our fellow team members, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love our team so much, thanks to all of you by my side, I was able to get through difficult times. Thank you so much, I love you all.” Yeom Hye-Ran bid farewell to everyone while adding, “I’ll see you again in Season 3!”. This leads us to believe there could definitely be a season 3.

The Uncanny Counter Kdrama and Webtoon ended very similarly, which probably closes a window for season 3
Since the Season 2 finale of the K-drama ended very similarly to how The Uncanny Counter webtoon ended, most webtoon readers will assume that the K-drama won’t have a third season. The webcomic ends with Mun traveling the world and deciding on Germany in the webtoon’s Season 2, Episode 62. He shows up to a group of counters engaged in a demon fighting. The K-drama’s finale, however, takes place in a cafe in Germany, where Mun was at the time a woman approached him. It turns out that this woman is Wi-gen’s daughter. He permits Wi-gen to see her daughter, and much like in the webtoon, Mun walks away from the crowd while telling everyone, “Bye for now,” but the live-action show adds another scene.
The Uncanny Counter Season 2 finale may have hinted at something more for K-drama viewers. A similar ominous occurrence occurs in the Season 1 finale, when Pil-Gwang declares it’s not the end soon after throwing himself into the endless prison, and Ji Cheong-sin warns Mun that something worse is about to happen. This gives viewers a signal as to whether or not a Season 3 is feasible.
The Uncanny Counter Season 3 Release Date, Cast, and Plot
With uncertainties of another season of the hit K-drama series, it’s hard to say when it’s coming out and who will return. However, if we’re going to speculate, it will take a couple of years for season 3 to be released. We waited for almost three years for The Uncanny Counter season 2 to premiere, and we might have to experience the same if there’s ever going to be a third season. Thus, the earliest date we can think of is late in 2025. Moreover, with how the webtoon ended, we would like to believe that season 3 would be more of a prequel rather than a sequel or a spinoff.
