The live-action adaptation of One Piece has cemented itself as a successful Netflix series within just a couple of weeks since its release. The show has fulfilled its heavy expectations and impressed universal audiences. Now, an obvious question has emerged among fans: Is the show good enough to be renewed for another season? Let’s find out more about Netflix’s live-action One Piece series and what we know so far about a potential Season 2.
One Piece live-action Season 2 renewal
For any show that receives both critical acclaim and genuine appreciation from fans, a renewal is almost inevitable. That seems to be the case for Netflix’s live-action One Piece as well. The producers have also confirmed that Monkey D Luffy’s adventures will continue.
The CEO of Tomorrow Studios revealed that the scripts are ready for Season 2 and will be ready to air within 12 to 18 months. However, the only obstacle is the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, bringing Hollywood to a standstill.

According to the makers, One Piece has already exceeded expectations when it comes to viewership numbers. The fact that it has won the support of non-anime and manga fans, including family audiences, makes Season 2 a no-brainer for the platform.
However, Netflix has not made any official announcement regarding the renewal. Fans are on an eager lookout for confirmation from the streaming giant’s social media handles.
One Piece Season 2’s possible plot
As of now, there is not much that we know about the plot for the upcoming season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece. However, fans have begun speculating on what story arc from the manga/anime the showrunners could choose from for Season 2.
The main hint is obviously the post-credits scene at the end of the first season. The first season covered around 96 manga chapters and had five arcs. It ended with the conclusion of Arlong Park and revealed Luffy’s bounty to the audience.
Potential arcs for Season 2 of One Piece include those of Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, Drum Island, and Arabasta. But the makers might just take things slow, as some believe the first season’s pace was a little too much.
Global success of Netflix’s live-action One Piece
So, just how big is One Piece’s win for Netflix and future live-action anime adaptations? In just four days since its launch, the show took the No. 1 position in global streaming charts with 18.5 million views.

This is a lifesaver for Tomorrow Studios, as their previous live-action outing with Cowboy Bebop ended up getting canceled after a poor first season. One Piece also had the shadow of a mammoth $18 million per episode budget looming over it.
The series has gifted its actors like Inaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, and Taz Skylar with breakout roles for their international careers. Almost all of the primary cast will likely return for a potential Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece.
