Anime fans are in it for a treat as Nippon TV, a leading Japanese entertainment company, has licensed 13 of its popular anime titles to stream on Netflix.
Nippon TV is the flagship station of the Nippon News Network and the Nippon Television Network System. Furthermore, it covers several fields in entertainment such as Sports, News, Variety shows, Dramas, and Animation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has continuously pushed into the anime space. They have signed several content agreements with Japan’s biggest entertainment companies. In addition, Netflix mentioned that over 222 million subscribers watch anime on their platform. Therefore, providing more shows would be beneficial for both Netflix and its subscribers.
The agreement with Netflix and Japan’s Nippon TV is a new distribution deal that will stream 13 popular anime titles to the platform. Previously, the two companies have released Old Enough! for streaming.
The first three titles will be launched on September 01, 2022, in more than a hundred countries. Moreover, these countries include Spain, Italy, Finland, Turkey, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and more.
The First 3 Anime Titles launching this September
Anime News Network reported a statement from Akane Inoue, Anime Sales, and Licensing, International Business Development, and Nippon TV. The success of Old Enough!, alongside their drama series and entertainment shows streaming across Asia paved the way for a new deal with Netflix.
“For many years, anime has been a driving force at Nippon TV where we have been producing hit anime titles such as HUNTER X HUNTER, DEATH NOTE, and many more. With anime continuing to surge in popularity around the world, the timing could not be better for this exciting partnership with Netflix. I have no doubt anime fans will be talking about these titles the world over.”
