The debut episode of Oshi no Ko left a lasting impact on the world of anime with its 90-minute runtime. It is for sure that the manga fans are thinking it is just the beginning and anime-watchers have no idea what’s in store just yet.
The story begins with Ai Hoshino, a very popular idol, giving birth to two twins named Aqua and Ruby. Both of them retain memories of their past life. However, tragedy strikes when a stalker discovers Ai’s home and murders her for deceiving her fans.
The story then continues further and shows that both Ruby and Aqua have grown up. The latter meets one of his old friends from a show, Kana Arima, who now has feelings for Aqua. The question remains: will Aqua reciprocate these feelings and pursue a relationship with Kana? Keep reading to find out.

Who is Kana Arima?
Kana Arima was once a very popular child actress, but her lack of consideration for others caused her to be cast aside. However, she refused to let this setback derail her dreams of success in the entertainment industry. In the present day, Kana is a high school student who has taken on more and more jobs in a bid to regain her lost fame.
Undeterred by her past rejections, Kana continues to hone her talents and explore various avenues of the entertainment industry. She even takes on small B-grade jobs, such as the Pepper Bell Ad, to keep her dreams alive.
In Episode 3 of the series, Aqua reunites with Kana, who reveals that she is currently working on a TV drama and wants Aqua to join as an actor. Eager to uncover the truth behind his mother’s tragic death, he quickly accepts the offer when he realizes that a man on the set may hold the key to the mystery.
Will Aqua start dating Kana eventually?
Aqua and Kana had performed together in shows when they were just three years old. Years later, they rekindle their friendship in high school, and it becomes clear that Kana harbored feelings for Aqua, especially after he suggested they form an idol group with his sister Akane.
However, when Aqua kissed Akane during a set, Kana was devastated and cried alone in her room. She decided to move on from Aqua and just after that, she met Pieyon, a mascot. Kana fell in love with him only to realize that the mascot was Aqua in disguise. She then made a vow to herself that she would make Aqua fall for her.
However, from Aqua’s end, he finds Kana’s personality distasteful and her behavior is very rude. Nonetheless, Aqua values Kana’s friendship and recognizes her talent as an actress, often going out of his way to help her. Despite Kana’s growing infatuation with him, Aqua sees her only as a good friend and does not wish to date her.
What happens to their friendship later in the story?
As B-Komachi prepares to shoot their new music video in Miyazaki, Ruby extends an invitation to Aqua to join them on the trip. Kana’s expression changes as Aqua agrees to the invitation, and she offers to help him prepare for the journey. However, Aqua declines, as he has a date with Akane Kurokawa planned. Though Kana is unhappy to hear this, Aqua agrees to meet her the following day.
Despite Kana arriving late to their date, Aqua treats her well and ensures she enjoys their time together. He pays for their meal, reserves their seats, and even arranges for a taxi to take her home safely. As the story progresses, Aqua finds himself helping Kana in a number of situations, while also distancing himself to prevent her from suffering the same fate as Ai.
Later a paparazzi took a scandalous picture of Kana with Masanori. Aqua steps in to save her as he talked to the reporter and provided him with a piece of more scandalous information. Aqua revealed to the reporter that he and Ruby are Ai Hoshino’s children which diverted his attention from Kana.
Kana realizes everything that Aqua had done for her and thanks him in person. She resolves to quit being an idol and considers him her precious friend. In this Scandal arc, we get to see how much Kana has grown as a person. She is no longer a character who is helpless and needs to be saved. She has become a character who can handle such pressure and pull herself up out of this mental low point.
