Hoopa has come to be an important part of the recent events in Pokemon Go with the Season of Mischief. It is a Psychic/Ghost-type Mythical Pokemon. Hoopa comes in two forms, Hoopa Confined and Hoopa Unbound. The powerful Pokemon has only been available in some Pokemon games.
In Pokemon Go, Hoopa Unbound became available to players at the end of the Season of Mischief. But what do the two forms of Hoopa mean? How can a player transform their Hoopa Confined to Hoopa Unbound? Read on to find out.
HOOPA CONFINED
- Hoopa Confined is a Psychic/Ghost-type Mythical Pokemon. It has a max CP of 3797, 261 ATK, 187 DEF, and 173 STA. Confusion and Shadow Ball are some of its best moves.
- Its weaknesses are Dark-type and Ghost-type, while it can resist Fighting-, Normal-, Poison-, and Psychic-types.
- In Pokemon Go, Hoopa could be obtained in September after the second part of Misunderstood Mischief Special Research Story was unlocked. After completing a set of tasks that were part of the research story, players could redeem their rewards while preparing to encounter Hoopa, the star of the show.
HOOPA UNBOUND
- Hoopa Unbound is a Psychic/Dark-type Mythical Pokemon. It is much more powerful when compared to Hoopa Confined.
- Its overall stats and CP are massively increased. It is one of the most powerful Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Go. It has a max CP of 4530, 311 ATK, 191 DEF, 173 STA.
- Its weaknesses are Bug- and Fairy-type. Meanwhile, it is resistant toward Psychic-type adversaries.
- After completing the second task of the Special Research task, players will be able to transform their Hoopa into its Unbound form. This was possible due to the form changes that were introduced in Pokemon Go during the 2021 Fashion Week event. This will require Candy and Stardust. The difference between form changes and evolutions is that forms can also be changed back!
HOOPA’S LORE
In Pokemon lore, Hoopa can summon other Pokemon to battle in its place. It can even summon Legendary and Mythical type Pokemon in such instances. However, it is also possible that these summoned Pokemon will become hostile to Hoopa itself.
- Hoopa finds itself based on a Genie. This is why Hoopa appears alternately as Prison Bottle Items. A resemblance to the trickster deity from Taoism, Nazha, and Shakthi, the multi-armed Hindu god can be drawn.
- However, Hoopa’s history is clearly depicted in Hoopa and the Clash of Ages. Appearing in a small village, Hoopa had to fulfill villagers’ wishes with its rings when it was offered food.
When, through a turn of events, it finds itself in a battle against other Pokemon, it summons others, using them to defeat the enemies. When legendary/mythical Pokemon are summoned, the village is also damaged. In the end, a lone traveler seals Hoopa in a bottle, just like a Genie. What we gather from the interesting lore is that Hoopa is not a meanie.
