Pokémon is such a big thing in today’s world that everyone must be aware of it. From anime and live action movies to video games and card games, Pokémon has made its mark everywhere. One such crop of the Pokémon harvest is Pokémon Players Cup. It is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary, which comes packed with a lot of treats for the fans. Here’s what we know.
The 25th Anniversary
- As mentioned above, the Pokémon Players Cup would be celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Pokémon Company revealed the stream schedule to be from 13th August 2021 to 15th August 2021. A pre-show begins at 2 p.m. ET on August 13, and the tournament kicks off at 12 p.m. ET on August 14.
- As a part of the celebrations, all players who will tune in to this year’s Pokémon Players Cup will be rewarded with several free in-game rewards. Please note that it would only be available if you view the Players Cup 25th Anniversary live stream. These rewards include on-screen codes and passwords for a Secret Rare card in TCG Online; and a special Coalossal in Pokémon Sword & Shield.
The Secret Rare Card
- From what we know, everyone who will stream the tournament will be able to redeem on-screen codes and passwords for a Secret Rare Quick Ball card. The Quick Ball card is a versatile card that has featured over 98% of decks in the latest Players Cup. It is a heavily used trainer card and most players had at least one copy of it in their decks.
- Quick Ball card has a generic searching ability and lets players thin their decks. It also enables them to put useful material into their discard pile. Apart from all this, it also grants them an edge by providing them an extra basic Pokémon.
Coalossal
The secret rare quick ball card aside, players can also redeem a special Coalossal in Pokemon Sword & Shield. The Coalossal will be based on the creature used by professional competitive Pokémon player Wolfe Glick. It will feature the best competitive move set for Pokémon and use the Steam Engine ability. The move set would be a combination of Heat Wave, Meteor Beam, Protect, and Solar Beam.
That aside, it will hold the Weakness Policy item and also feature a highly trained Special Attack. Santino Tarquinio and Wolfe Glick when won the Pokémon Players Cup and the Pokémon Players Cup II, using this Coalossal. The funny thing is that even after featuring such dangerous attacks, Coalossal is said to be modest in nature.
Make sure to tune in to the event, if you do not want to miss out on these rewards.
