You board a train, plunging deeper into the Playtime Factory in Chapter 2’s final moments. Disaster strikes – the train crashes. The true terror is only just waking up. Here’s what happened to Poppy Playtime Chapter 3.
WARNING: Spoiler Alert!
The Secrets of Playtime Factory
Awakening, you find yourself carried by CatNap, another disturbing toy experiment. This creature throws you into a garbage compactor. You must escape quickly, or face being crushed! Continuing your path, you navigate the disposal area’s back rooms, catching glimpses of CatNap as you go.
The Mystery Caller
A phone receiver rings. Picking up the receiver, you’re greeted by Ollie, a child’s voice offering assistance. He sends you with a battery to unlock a door and warns you of CatNap, a smiling critter with bad intentions.
Elliot’s Express: A Chilling Tour
A Skyrail transports you to Elliot’s Express, a seemingly happy orphanage within the factory’s depths. As you ride, Playtime Co-founder Elliot Ludwig welcomes you with a chilling message. His words about smiles and ensuring children’s happiness take on a sinister meaning given the recent revelations about the Bigger Bodies Initiative.
The tour ends, revealing the orphanage’s entirety– a school, house, playhouse, counselor’s office, and toy store – catering to every child’s need. At its center stand statues of the smiling critters. Ollie guides you to a room beneath the statues, where keys unlock previously inaccessible areas.
Gas Production
You enter the gas production facility, witnessing the red smoke’s creation. Ollie tasks you with eliminating the smoke to progress. Just as you near completion, someone sabotages the area into darkness. With no other option, you follow Ollie’s plan B – activating the backup generator.
Entering the Orphanage House: Huggy Wuggy Returns… or Not?
Stepping into the house exposes you to the red smoke, inducing the same effects experienced by the children. A twisted version of Huggy Wuggy emerges from the television, hunting you. However, it’s quickly revealed as an illusion, awakening you back in the orphanage.
Encountering Kissy Missy
Your quest for the backup generators leads you to the beloved character, Kissy Missy. She holds a photo of a child, seemingly her former self. Activating the next generator triggers a jump scare – Kissy Missy! However, Poppy intervenes, explaining your role in stopping the prototype and saving the “good toys.” You are the only one who can help.
After restoring power, Ollie directs you to the schoolhouse. He warns you of a creature residing there before the signal cuts out. Miss Delight, the school’s sole remaining teacher, speaks through the speakers, hinting at your past with Playtime Co. and questioning your survival. Miss Delight will then proceed to chase you. Activating the generator triggers an attack from Miss Delight. She chases you until you reach a room and defeat her.
Prototype a God?
After leaving the school, you find yourself in a series of caves and see a familiar creature. You see CatNap worshipping a built-up toy made from the defeated bosses from previous chapters. Ollie explains that CatNap thought the Prototype was its “superhero” and treated it as a god. Another VHS tape confirms that one scientist referred to CatNap as “Theo”. CatNap was kept imprisoned in the Playtime Factory.
Return to PlayCare
Smiling miniature critters welcome you. They will continuously attack you. Continuing your journey, you end up in CatNap’s former prison area. Inside the prison cells, you meet DogDay. He explains that he is part of a team trying to stop CatNap’s plans. The toy further explains that Poppy called for your help to save the remaining good toys. DogDay refers to you as “Poppy’s Angel”. This conversation is interrupted by the mini critters, who enter DogDay’s body, take control, and hunt you.
After successfully escaping the possessed DogDay, you reach the Counselor’s Office. Ollie explains that the final backup generator is within this building and that you must activate it.
CatNap Encounter, Again
After you reach the generator, CatNap reappears and attacks you. You then enter a hallucination state and participate in a story time with Poppy. During this time, it is confirmed that you, the protagonist, are indeed one of the Playtime Factory workers who returned many years later. Right before you insert the last battery for electric power reactivation, CatNap reappears to stop you.
After you wake up, CatNap speaks to you, warning you to leave or face the consequences. As you continue your journey, you eventually end up inside a power room where the final stand between you and CatNap happens. Once you defeat CatNap, the Prototype is shown grabbing it.
End of Kissy Missy?
With the path now clear, you are reunited with Poppy and Kissy Missy. A video by Poppy explains what happened during the start of the attacks. The Evil Toys attacked everyone inside the Playtime Co., regardless of their goodness or kindness. The bodies were then collected and brought below the factory for the Evil Toys to feast on and stay alive.
You, Kissy Missy, and Poppy descend to the laboratory together. Poppy requests that you and she go first to the bottom and will send back the elevator for Kissy. In the middle of the elevator’s descent, a chilling, agonizing scream from Kissy Missy is heard, hinting that someone or something is attacking her. The elevator hatch then shuts, preventing you from returning to the top.
