PS5 Stock Issues To Continue Through Early 2022; Sony Comments

Sony’s CFO, Hiroki Totoki said during an investor call that can’t drastically increase the supply for the PS5, at least, till FY22, i.e., till March 31, 2022.

Totoki said that Sony is trying to “cope with the global shortage of hardware components, including potentially altering hardware designs or sourcing secondary suppliers.” (via VGC)

He said, “We’re aiming for more sales volume than the PS4. But can we drastically increase the supply? No, that’s not likely.”

“The shortage of semiconductors is one factor, but there are other factors that will impact on the production volume. So, at present, we’d like to aim at second-year sales of 14.8 million, which was the second year of PS4.”

As of March 31, 2021, Sony has sold over 7.8 million units of the PS5.
