Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App Leaks Potential PC Release
The Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App has useful features such as a full in-game map and detailed stat tracking. However, some talented individuals over on the GTA Forums have used it to find evidence of a potential PC release.
Files within the Companion App reference DirectX 12, ultra graphics settings and separate sliders for Soft Shadows in-game. Of course, all of these are elements typical of a PC game rather than a console game.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen code leaks hinting to a PC launch either. Just last week Twitter user JakoMako51 broke down the Social Club source code. In it, there was a reference to “RDR2_PC_Accomplishments,” next to “RDR2_PS4_Trophies,” and “RDR2_XBOX_Achievements.”
Given Grand Theft Auto V’s success on PC, it would be surprising to not see Red Dead 2 ported across. GTA V sold a total of 110 million copies, with somewhere around 15 million of those being PC copies. All recent signs point to Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC in the future.
