Quantic Dreams has always had a specific game style that appeals to many people, and we’ll likely see it with Star Wars: Eclipse. It puts you in the lead, where the story revolves around your decisions. We see that in Heavy Rain and their latest success, Detroit: Become Human. Their latest project seems a far cry from their usual formula. The company assured us there are no delays with the project, and it is well underway with development.
The Setting
Star Wars: Eclipse will have a High Republic Era setting, otherwise known as the Golden Age of the Jedi. It’s hundreds of years before the birth of Luke Skywalker when Jedi are a well-known concept. The difference the game will have over previous Quantic Dream projects is that it will be in a fantasy world: a galaxy far far away.

Most of their previous games are rooted in reality. Detroit talks about how civilization might function when androids become a commonality. Heavy Rain follows the story of a serial killer, while Fahrenheit follows the story of a supernaturally possessed killer.
While it will be a different setting, Quantic Dream iterated that Star Wars: Eclipse will contain many of the fundamentals of their games. It will be more action-oriented, given that it is a big part of the Star Wars universe. Who wouldn’t want intense lightsaber fights or shootouts with smugglers? The team is notably a big franchise fan, working its best to keep the spirit of the world in their game.
Storytelling at Its Core
What many enjoy about Quantic Dreams games is how you can change the narrative based on its decision. Back in Heavy Rain, a mistake or wrong decision could end up killing a character. That would mean the story would change as it only accounts for the remaining living characters. Choice-driven games aren’t new for Star Wars, but it lends strength to the developer’s style.
The most obvious would be having the player’s decisions shape them towards the dark or light side. It may also affect the character’s playstyle and how they approach situations or engage in combat. Based on the developers, storytelling will remain a big part of the game as it is one of their reasons for success.
The game has been under works for a while, though it took them some time to figure out its story.
A Possible Release?
Things have been mostly quiet on Quantic Dreams games as they do tend to spend several years on their projects. We don’t have any footage or screenshots of the game yet. There is a possibility that they are somewhere in mid-development, and we may have a game trailer by next year. Anything is possible, but people expect the game to have a 2024 release date.
Quantic assured fans there are no delays with the game. NetEase has also allowed them more resources. It was a problem that was prevalent in their development days before the acquisition.
