Meghan Markle becomes the subject of yet another controversy thanks to Chris Rock’s new comedy special on Netflix, Selective Outrage. The comedian returned to the big stage in grand fashion a year after the infamous Will Smith slap at the Oscars. In the first ever live Netflix event, Chris Rock took aim at Smith himself and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
He particularly called out Meghan Markle’s racism claims against the Royal Family and the audience seemed to love it. However, this didn’t mean he joined the other side as he equally humiliated Buckingham Palace and their legacy. Chris Rock mainly referred to Meghan’s viral remarks from the Oprah Winfrey interview along with Prince Harry.
Chris Rock mocks Meghan Markle’s racism claims against the Royal Family
In the Oprah interview, Meghan had spoken about how the Royal Family was concerned over how ‘dark’ her newborn baby’s skin was going to be. Chris Rock mocked her for this comment on Selective Outrage claiming that this was not racism and merely “in-laws s***.” He also said Meghan had won the “light-skin lottery” referring to her skin color.
Meghan Markle mentioned on Oprah that she had no idea how racist the Royal Family were. Chris Rock roasted her for this statement and said, “That’s the royal family, you didn’t Google those motherf**kers?” He called them the original racists and that they invented colonialism. He also joked that they invested in slavery like it was Shark Tank.
The comedian targeted another influential family when he said if Meghan Markle wants to feel accepted by her white in-laws, then she should marry a Kardashian as they accept anyone and everyone.
Will Smith roasted in Netflix comedy special Selective Outrage
A significant portion of Chris Rock’s jokes at the Netflix comedy special Selective Outrage came at the expense of his old friend and recent enemy Will Smith. The actor’s slap had sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry after the comedian joked about his wife’s alopecia.
At the live Netflix event in Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre, Chris Rock tore into Will Smith’s personal life and spoke about how his wife Jada had been in a relationship with her son’s friend. While acknowledging that the slap had physically hurt him, Chris Rock said he didn’t cry about it and took the hit like Manny Pacquiao.

However, Meghan’s supporters have called out Chris Rock on Twitter, as expected. Will Smith’s fans have joined them as well in a tirade against the comedian.

Meghan Markle’s longtime friend and The Vampire Diaries actress Janina Gavankar was present at the Selective Outrage comedy special event. Even the actress who is a staunch supporter of Markle’s fight against the Royal Family seemed to be enjoying Chris Rock’s jokes.
