The Flash 2023: Full Trailer breakdown – What you missed

The first official trailer for DC Studios’ The Flash (2023) has set the internet on fire. The trailer was full of some wild surprises for the fans as some beloved characters return to the screen after ages as well as some new exciting entrants. Here’s a complete breakdown of the trailer of The Flash and what we know so far about the upcoming 2023 DC film.

The Flash opens multiverse

After a string of legal scandals, Ezra Miller finally returns as Barry Allen AKA The Flash. However, from the beginning of the trailer, it’s clear that he is not going to be the talking point of the film.

  • Following the footsteps of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DCEU finally ventures into the idea of a multiverse adventure. The film uses DC’s Flashpoint comics event to incorporate this idea into the film.

  • The film begins with the premise that Barry Allen travels across the multiverse to the past in an attempt to prevent his mother’s death. In the trailer, we see two different Barry Allens joining hands to fix reality and save their respective universes.

Michael Keaton’s Batman

Here comes the most exciting part of The Flash trailer that has the internet buzzing with hype. As the trailer sets up the multiverse, Flash talks about having created a reality with no metahumans, meaning there’s no one to save them.

  • And then, an unlikely but familiar voice asks if they need any help. This is where Michael Keaton’s Batman arrives in style with a signature nonchalant, “Yeah, I’m Batman.” The trailer also showed Ben Affleck earlier, so there could be a possibility of them fighting side by side.
  • Michael Keaton’s Batman was first introduced in the 1989 film directed by Tim Burton. Keaton’s performance helped to revitalize the Batman franchise and set the standard for modern superhero movies.

Sasha Calle’s Supergirl

Another exciting entrant in The Flash trailer was an indestructible Kryptonian dressed in blue and red. Unfortunately, we’re not talking about Henry Cavill’s Superman.

  • The new altered reality introduces Kara Zor-El AKA Supergirl played by Sasha Calle. The interesting part is she could go head-to-head with Zod, the villain from Man of Steel, as the trailer shows his arrival in the past.

Crew and release date

Andy Muschetti, who previously made the It horror films, directs The Flash (2023). The film is expected to hit the reset button on the DCEU after new CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran completely changed the studio’s slate.

  • After taking charge of DC Studios, the new heads scrapped plans for a possible Man of Steel 2 and Wonder Woman 3. In fact, Henry Cavill had to hang up his boots as the Caped Crusader while others like Jason Momoa had to give up Aquaman for a new character.

  • The introduction of the multiverse concept that rewinds the narrative back to the days of Zod and Man of Steel is a pretty solid concept to reset the DC universe.
  • Fans hope for The Flash to be a fitting farewell to the actors originally introduced in the DC Universe by Zack Snyder.

The Flash is expected to be released on June 16th, 2023. Are you excited for it?
