The Last of Us Actor Troy Baker Cut Ties With NFT Company
Actor Troy Baker previously revealed a partnership with VoiceVerse, a voice NFT development company that claims to provide its customers access to a unique AI voice that they may subsequently keep forever. Baker, well known for his performances as Joel in The Last of Us, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4, and Gul’dan in World of Warcraft, among others, has stepped down from this project due to the pressure it put on him.
It was intended as a way for gamers to acquire artificial intelligence voices utilizing NFT, a platform that has been criticized for its high energy usage. When Baker made the disclosure of this partnership, many fans criticized this decision.
Thank you all for your feedback and patience. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to not continue the partnership with VoiceVerseNFT. Intentions aside, I’ve heard you and apologize for accusing anyone of “hating” just by simply disagreeing with me.

“You can hate. Or you can create.” – Troy Baker
In a statement released two weeks after the first post, the actor expressed regret for his statements. He said he had decided to stop the collaboration with VoiceVerseNFT. Finally, he apologizes for labeling everyone who opposed his views as “haters”.
Publishers like Ubisoft and Konami are among the first to provide virtual goods as non-fungible tokens (NFT). Ubisoft claims that gamers aren’t aware of the benefits of NFTs because of their slow reception.
Other companies, such as Valve, have been adamantly critical, and their shop, Steam, the most prominent on the PC, does not accept games with NFT. For now, it appears that developers are waiting for the proper timing before making a decision till they are more widely acknowledged by their community of gamers.

Since March 2021, I've worn two hats at Spiel Times: a writer and a Managing Editor. In my writing role, I've earned recognition from Wikipedia and Nev Schulman (Catfish TV Show host) for my insightful analysis and engaging narrative style. I'm passionate about all things gaming, with a keen eye for detail and a knack for uncovering hidden secrets within games. My gaming journey began at a young age, captivated by titles like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. Today, I enjoy exploring open-world RPGs and MMORPGs, consumed by their lore and crafting theories about their narratives. I'm also drawn to the suspenseful atmosphere of horror games and the intricate narratives of crime-themed titles, bringing a unique perspective to my writing. Beyond gaming, I have a fascination with anything unexplained and chilling, a passion that often spills over into my exploration of horror games. When I'm not engrossed in a virtual world, you can find me curled up and spending time with my adorable doggy sidekick, Teemo. As Managing Editor, I'm committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for our writing team. I communicate openly with my team members, addressing any content-related issues and providing guidance to help them excel.
